Am Sonntag habe ich Kloster Lorsch besucht, welches im frühen Mittelalter geründet wurde. Im nahegelegenen Bensheim habe ich auch mehrere Jahre gearbeitet, aber ich bin nie dazu gekommen, das Kloster zu besuchen. Ich habe an einer Führung teilgenommen, in deren Rahmen die Geschichte erklärt und die Königshalle gezeigt wurde. Danach bin wieder in mein Projektapartment zurück gefahren.... read more

''In the last episode, our intrepid adventurers had conquered Western Italy and were keen to tackle the East coast. Let's join them as their train pulls into Venice.'' Thank you Mister Voice-over Man. For starters, we weren't actually staying in Venice. We got off one station earlier at Venice Menstre, which is like Venice's driveway. Everything going to Venice passes through here. It makes the hotels much cheaper though. We were staying about 5 minutes from the station, and the woman who ran it has been the most helpful person we've met so far. She gave us maps, showed us bus and train timetables, and they've just renovated all the rooms. Nice. Ok, so today's post isn't actually being written FROM Lorsch, Germany. However, this small town along the Rhine river plays an important part in today's activities and my "cultural excursion" for the day. The day started with an opportunity to attend Justin's tee-ball game, followed by a nice walk down to the Wiesbaden Kurpark (the generic name given to German parks where the mineral baths are traditionally located). In the afternoon, Thom, Kris, and I drove about 30 minutes from their home in Wiesbaden to the town of Lorsch. Lorsch is one of a series of smaller towns located along the Rhine River in the "Rhiengau" region of Germany.
