We spent 6 days here in Berlin and loved it. It is such a clean city, absolutely no rubbish anywhere. Our first day we spent just walking around and we were staying on Kurfurstandamm - which is the most famous shopping avenue in Berlin. in the middle of the city there was a square that had markets in them and this band playing all good old music

Sachsenhausen Camp

this is the gates that everyon goes through to get in. here is where they get stripped of their clothes, shaved and they take all their identity

gate saying

this is on the gate. it is in german and basically means hard work leads to freedom. when really it leads to death

role call

the record that was listed for role call was 16 hours. many people dropped dead from the cold because it was minus temperatures

walls

the barb wire was 1,000 volts and if anyone stepped on the gravel they were shot

beds

2 or 3 people slept on each bed. the building was built for 120 people but 800 people slept in each with only 8 toilets and basins.

they had 30 minutes for all 800 people to get ready which meant washing in only 8 basins, toilet and eating

they tie the prisoners hands behind their back (as if being arrested) and then hang them up on the hooks which then dislocates their shoulders and left to hang there

this is a crap memorial because the prisoners are well fed, have hair and big jackets - nothing like what it really was

people were taken here and shot

this is more to reality. they are skinny with no hair or clothing

Z building

prisoners were taken in here to be killed. they were told they were getting a medical. when they put their back up against the wall as if getting measured a gum was put through a hole and they were shot. they were then burnt

parliment house

hitler actually got this burnt down so he could be in power

wow this looks like such an amazing place! it would have been so interesting seeing all the nazi stuff for real, but so sad i imagine. also, that round-a-bout is crazy insane! lol
