Time for their breakfast after a long drive to get to our boat.
I have developed a theory about life, at least about that which Phil and I share. It's that the different strands of our lives separate and return over time. So it was with great delight that we were able to see Niko and Katia again. Niko was our first exchange student, who came to us through Sky's high school at the time, the International School in Sydney. He came from Germany when he was 16 years old, 28 years ago, just before Lucien was born. His sister Katia stayed with us 4 years later.

In 1996, we think it was, Phil was able to visit their family in Germany when he went for a scientific conference for his work. The whole family was most welcoming to him and the visit was a highlight of his trip. And now, 28 years later (!) since our first meeting we were able to meet up again. Niko and Katia, bless them, drove over 100 km to catch our boat in Wurzburg on the Saturday morning and we had a few hours to stroll the town and begin to catch up on all those years.

It was a great pleasure to see them

Time for the strawberry cake that's in season. Yum!
again and experience the coming together, the re-plaiting of important strands of our lives. A generation had passed and yet it felt in some ways like no time had passed at all.

Thank you, Niko and Katia!!!

Strands of life
Martha Melvyn and self have always said our goodbyes with these thoughts that the strands will come back together. I would like to add that additional strands enter the plait, like gossamer , uplifting and adding sparkle to the new experiences Loving the blogs C&M
