I think Munich has some of the coolest statues Leaving Amsterdam and heading to Oberstaufen, Germany would be my first experience with train travel, but definitely not my last. In fact, as I would later learn this trip consisited of quite many train rides. I feel that riding a train is probably the easiest and most hassle free form of ground travel in Europe. Nothing makes trevling go by quicker than having a few beers in the cafe and speaking with some of the other train passengers, if that fails there is usually always some table space for solo card games. Another nice aspect of train travel is that, while you may not stop in at many of the places you travel through, it can be easy to pick up the vibe or abmience of the cities. This way you can get a good idea of whether or not you want to go back and visit them.
The place we stayed in while visiting Germany was called Oberstaufen. I am pretty sure that unless you are from Southern Germany you have probably never heard of it. This place was not exactly picked, but rather given as a gift, so you will hear no complaints. From this point on through
In transit
I can't quite remember where this cool building was. It was on the train route from amsterdam down to Munich and the name of the city started with an F the rest of our journey we will be staying mostly in timeshare resorts given as a gift from my parents. So while the cities may have been in the middle of nowhere, we were at least staying in extremely nice places. Nothing is really very far in Europe anyways, so you can pretty much always find some interesting places to go and things to do within a couple of hours on the train.
I remember our first night when we arrived in the town, as it it is more properly called, of Oberstaufen. It was around 10:00 at night and everything was completely closed. Now as any good traveler, we did absolutly no research on the place we were visiting (I would hate to spoil the fun) so we were a bit suprised to see the a whole town closed after we just left Amsterdam which is open all day and night. Luckily there was one taxi parked near the platform and we were able to get a ride to the resort. We learned on the way that the whole city pretty much closes down at 7:00 and all public transportation stops at 6:00pm.
The next morning we

not bad when you come from a place that is barely 2 meters above sea level take the trolly to the town. We figure we should definitely do some food shopping as the resort restaurant can get expensive and we, again as any good traveler, are basically broke. The ride into town was only about a mile and a half, so we figure lets save the money and walk back with the groceries. Now we remember hearing from the resort staff that there is a path from the town to the resort that cuts straight through and doesn't follow the winding road. We figure it can't be too hard lets just go straight through town towards the resort and when we hit the forest we found a path continuing in the same direction. It all looks good to us so we head on.
After wandering through the forest and trying to stay going in the same general direction following different intersecting paths we realize that we are completely lost. We were getting pretty hungry as we had been walking all day carrying bags of groceries, so they at least came in handy and we were able to make sandwichs and drink some juice. After eating we decide that it is useless to continue trying to

This is the one from when we wandered way too far into those same mountains and got completely lost in the forest paths. get to the resort and figure that if we can get back to town quick enough we may be able to catch one of the last few trolly trips. So we start following one path and eventually see signs saying oberstaufen and pointing in which direction to go. Unfortunately there is not just one sign at each intersection, but rather two or three that are saying Oberstaufen and all pointing in different directions, with different distances. This really sucks so we basically spent the whole day wandering through a forest with groceries. We eventually make it back to the city and walk on the side of the road back to the resort as it is too late for public transport. About halfway through we get a ride with a car heading the same way. It turns out there is a nordic track that circles all around the city and cuts through the back half which is basically just a big forest in the mountains. This explains the intersections with all the signs pointing different ways to get to the city.
There are also a couple of pictures of Munich attached. It seemes we didn't take many photos in these
spots.

Well, the place with the big cathedral doesnt start with F. Its the city of Cologne and the cathedral is the Kölner Dom, Dome of cologne. Sometime around 1880 as the two towers were completed after 600 years of construction this cathedral used to be the tallest building in the world for a few years
