Chilling Out in the Sun
Hanging at the Hofbaru Tent After a rather eventful night, I finally made it to my bed for a snooze.
Half an hour later, the others said they were about to leave to head back into Oktoberfest.
I decided that if I didn’t go with them, I’d never find them. So I got up, quickly got ready and we caught the coach in to Oktoberfest at about 10am.
We saw the horse and carts bringing more beer into the festival, which was very cool!
We spent the whole day and most of the evening hanging out at the Hofbrau tent across a few picnic tables out in the sunshine. By the time the evening came, they were playing some classic beer-drinking songs, which found most of us dancing on the tables. A somewhat reserved middle aged couple sitting next to us even joined in the dancing. Good effort!
They boys decided that wanted to check out some of the rides.
There were more rides there than at most theme parks I’ve been to, and some were particularly scary. Suz and I were freaked out just watching them!
We had a bit of a look around the festival, got some chocolate dipped fruit
Matt, Tom, Hanz
Cool Hats Guys! (yum!) and checked out the schnapps tent.
We eventually caught the last coach back to our campground around 11.30pm.
Everyone was heading to bed, but I didn’t really feel like sleeping, so headed up to the café area at the entrance to the campground, where the 24hr beer vending machines were, and chatted to various people for a while.
The next day we decided to have an easy morning, as we had to catch the coach back to London that afternoon.
We caught the U-bahn over to the BMW museum and had a look around all the BMW cars. They had everything from old to new, racing cars, motorbikes and also side-cars!
They even had the first BMW ever made! - Stew, you would love this place!
We found a Pizza Hut for lunch, which was fantastically greasy. Then caught the U-bahn back to the city centre and got some souvenirs including a large beer stein.
We went back to Oktoberfest and had one last look around. Matt and Billy weren’t feeling so good, so we sat under some trees in the shade for a bit. We meet up with everyone else and caught
The Survivors
Our last taste of Oktoberfest before heading home our special 4pm coach back to the campground.
We packed up our stuff and left about 6pm to start our long journey back to London. We watched a ‘significantly below average’ movie on the way back called ‘Article 99’. I managed to get a bit of sleep as I had both seats to myself - Yay!
We got back to London about 10am on Sunday morning, said our goodbye’s and I headed back to Helen’s on the tubes.
After a bit of a chat and low-down of the weekend’s activities, Helen and I went into Oxford Street to meet up with Heloise.
I got stuck trying to get back home, as all the buses were full of people (the central line was closed for engineering works). When one bus finally did stop 1.5 hours later(!), I had ‘insufficient funds’ on my oyster card - found out I was 5p short! I was not happy! I ended up walking all the way back to Shepherd’s Bush!

How We're Drinking
" ... where the 24hr beer vending machines were ... " Fuck yes. You should bring one of these back to New Zealand as well.
