Ring Ring Ring It’s 7 AM and the phone is ringing. It’s Hedi they are up and having breakfast and waiting for us.
Kirsten and I jump out of bed and rush and get ready. We’re clean and packed in 30 minutes. We rush down stairs and have a quick breakfast didn’t get to even finish my coffee.
We’re out the hotel and heading toward the Autobahn and I say why are in such a hurry? Kirsten says were not in a hurry we just have the GOGo. I see a McDonalds up the road and say pull over and let em get a cup of coffee at lease, Bill yells out from the back Yea, I’ll pay for it.
After getting our coffee Bill and I are much happier, I also pick up the daily news paper for Hedi to read to us as were heading into Munich.
So begins our trek to Munich for the 200th anniversary of Oktoberfest. The first Oktoberfest was in 1810 for the wedding of Ludwig. You can do that when your king. Kirsten spots a bus full of tourist and follows the bus all the way to the front gate.
We drop Hedi and Bill off and tell them to stay close to the gate. Kirsten whips the car down the a back street and spots an empty parking space 100 yards away, you know a foot ball field. Gees I’m still trying to turn Helga off when she whips the car into the spot and is waiting by my door wondering what I’m doing sitting in the car.
We find Bill and Hedi right where we dropped them off and Bill is shaking like a leaf. Kirsten and I grab them and start heading to one of the Beer tents so Bill can warm up. As were getting closer we start smelling cooking fish, like over an open pit of fire. Yea, that right we find a booth that is cooking fish on the end of a stick over an open pit full of hot coals. I park Bill next to the pit. Bill is getting warm and he’s happy. After a while we start moving through the Beer tents looking at every one and staring at how big they are. We also are people watching everyone they are dressed in traditional ware and everyone is so
festive.
After exiting the 3rd or 4th tent I see Bill being interviewed by the local TV news man. He’s holding Bill’s licenses and is reading "William Hancock from Winter Haven Fl". And of course Bill is making Winter Haven proud.
Kirsten, grabs me and say’s she’s hunger and want to sit down at the next tent and have lunch. I’m good with that because I think I’ve walked enough and seen all the tents.
We first order some Liver soup, Yuck, everyone else loved it.
Bill gets a bratwurst, I had a bite to get rid of the liver soup taste.
Kirsten ordered her favorite roasted chicken along with a pretzel, I had a roasted chicken along with a beer, Bill & Hedi had a chicken also. Before you know it we are finished and rubbing our bellies. Yum Yum good.
We waddled out of the tent and headed toward the car, as we were heading to the car Kirsten found the beer wagons and horses. Kirsten was very happy.
We finally get to the car and are heading out of Munich. I’ve entered the address for the house at Berchtesgaden. Helga
calculates our rout and get’s us up on the autobahn and within 3 hours we’re standing in the house.
It’s a great house just like the picture. From our windows you can see the snow capped mountains tops.
Kirsten and Hedi go grocery shopping to get us enough food to get by or the next winter.
We have WIFI and cable TV life is good, I don’t understand what their saying on TV but it’s fun watching.
Heding to bed long and fun day.
