Munich feels like a really small town, but today I understood actually how big it is. I didn't even go that far from my flat, but Munich is a big city. First, I had to get currency so I went to the atm and withdrew some Euros. Now that I had money, I needed to find internet so I could contact my family and friends in the US. Unfortunately the usb wifi stick still wasn't working so I set out to find a café with internet. After talking to my family and finding the addresses of the places on my "to do" list, I set off to find food. I found a small Italian restaurant and bought Spaghetti all Carbonara. I had no idea that there was a dish anywhere in the world with spaghetti drenched in cheese. But I don't know much about food so it wasn't a huge surprise. After that I got my prepaid German phone. It's kind of hard to use switching from an iPhone, but it's not bad. Now I can talk to my host dad and friends in Germany.
It's pretty much exactly how I imagined Europe would be. Nice small shops, beautiful buildings,
people wearing dark colors, small streets, people walk everywhere, and cable cars/buses can take you all over the city. No trucks, mostly small cars, beautiful clock towers, lots of bikes, tons of restaurants and cafés, it's really a beautiful city. It's been kind of overcast and on the verge of rain, but it's pretty nonetheless. I really like it so far. I spent the whole day in town getting everything I need. I checked out a few of the gyms. I can either join a chain for a year for 20 Euro a month, or join a really nice club and pay by the month for 80-150 Euro. So I need to figure out what I'm going to do about that. As soon as school starts Monday the teachers and counselors can help me figure everything out. I think I'm also going to get a usb wifi stick so I can talk to family and friends from my flat. I think I'm going to get a library card rather than buy German novels. Tomorrow I need to open a bank account, get the library card, sign up at a gym, and find the train station so I can get a
map of Munich. It proved a lot more difficult getting around a foreign country without a friend that knows everything. I think I did fine though. I really need to workout, I'll definitely have to decide which gym to join by tomorrow 😊
Most of my photos today came out kind of dark but I'll post them anyway. I'll take more on the way home.
It's really easy to get around here in Munich. Buses, cable cars, or walking can get you pretty much anywhere. I walked mostly because I like the streets here 😊
