At the Bahnhof The alarm goes off its 5 AM. Kirsten and I are taking Mandy and the Kids to the Bahnhof (train Station)in the next town over to catch the 6:20 AM train to Munich. Everyone is loaded into the car and we’re on our way by 5:30. I’m impressed, our drive was 30 minutes as we pulled into the parking let Mandy and the kids piled out of the car and were on the train in about 5 minutes.
Kirsten and I then took a leisurely drive back to Berchtesgaden. We stopped at the little bakery shop next to the house to get breakfast, as we were getting out of the car Kirsten was smiling and getting all excited to purchase fresh brochens, deli meats and cheeses. This is the little bakery within walking distance to the house. Last year you’ll remember both Bea and Kirsten just loved walking in and talking with the lady behind the counter. So Kirsten walks in and immediately goes into spreakening the deutsche. The lady behind the counter responds with her German and they are ordering and putting rolls, cheeses and meats into the bag. While Kirsten is paying the lady she asks in perfect

Will on the train southern English “are ya’ll from North Carolina”. Kirsten’s mouth drops open she has this stunned and disappointed look on her face, and respond noooo we’re from Florida. Oh, ya’ll sound like u’re from North Carolina. I’m on the floor laughing harder than I’ve ever laughed. It turns out the nice lady is from North Carolina. I’m not kidding, is that not funny? As were getting back into the car Kirsten makes me swear I won’t put that in the blog. Of course not honey, we don’t want to let the word out that southern folks are taking over Berchtesgaden. Oh, by the way the Pope is a Southern Baptist.
We get back with breakfast; we sit down and have a great breakfast. We discuss today’s adventures.
First we drove to the town of Reit im Winkl. This is a cute alpine village right on the boarder of Austria and Germany. We then drive further northwest to Aschau the main item I wanted to see here was the castle it was built in the 1100’s and was then converted to a monastery which became a brewer. You know those monks needed something to do. It is now a local brewery

Opa getting a coffe for the region. Hmmm, a good tasting beer. About that time we got a text message that Mandy, the kids and Brian would be back into Berchtesgaden at 1:37 in the afternoon. Not 1:30 or 1:45 but 1:37, so we start making our way back to the house. We arrive around 12:30, ate a small lunch. At 1:20 Kirsten and I get into the car so we can be there at exactly 1:37 because German trains are never late, and they weren’t. That’s how we won the war the German’s were always prompt and the American’s were waiting.
Brian looked whipped and was ready for a nap, so we loaded up and headed back to the house.
When we were coming back from today’s outing Kirsten saw that one of the neighboring villages was having a Fest. Well you know how Kirsten is about a Fest. After we dropped Brian, Mandy and the kids off, we were heading to the Fest. We were not disappointed, even though we got there as it was ending.
We all met back at the house and had a delicious dinner prepared by Maria and James. It was good and filling so
everyone was tried and heading to bed because tomorrow was going to be here soon.
