Bad Worishofen
Attractive gardens bordering the pedestrian precinct. Tuesday 23 June 2015
Our adventures in this part of Germany are coming to an end but we haven't had time to check out the local town. So with a hint of sun and no rain in sight we took the opportunity to chill out and wander the streets of Bad Worishofen. This town is a spa town with a large number of hotels and many people here to "take the waters". So a short drive into the town, find a carpark, and explore. We had a great chat with a gentleman also using the carpark. He lives in Augsburg, a town about 60 kilometres away. From what he was saying it would be worth adding it to the wish list, perhaps when visiting Munich again. It is a town with a lot of history, going back to Roman times.
Our first assignment was a No.3 haircut for the driver. Four years ago in Hungary a No.3 resulted in a cut that lasted about 3 months. So this assignment was going to be interesting. On entering the salon the women all looked at each other when English poured from the mouth of the client. "What's he on about?" seemed

Monet's garden in the competition. to be the discussion. No problems. Another elderly client, having a lengthy treatment, spends her summers in Germany and Perth, Australia. A great interpreter and a wealth of knowledge about the area. The end result was a nice haircut that will last until we get back to New Zealand.
After a wicked lunch of a large apple pastry slice it was time for a photo tour of the central part of the town. Being early afternoon several shops were closed. In the hot parts of Europe this is common practice. This was not a hot part of Europe. Perhaps all the towns folk and visitors were soaking up the waters at the Therme or recovering from the associated treatment. The price tags and style of the garments for sale reflected the age and style of the visitors. Our new Australian friend says famous people came to town incognito (that's us) with money to spend (that's not us).
The competition gardens were still looking fresh and we had a chance to take a look in detail. Marigolds, begonias, petunias, and many other familiar flowers were in full bloom. One garden had its theme based around Monet's garden, complete with

Stream flowing through the middle of the town - mini Venice. paintings and large open frames making for a great sight.
Back at the apartment we needed to reorganize our bags for an unusual couple of days. It was also a chance to have a sort out of all the stuff you can accumulate on a trip of this sort. Tomorrow we fly to London and back the next day for a very important appointment with our daughter. Ryanair waits for no man so everything has to be precision timing. We can't miss the flight.
With everything sorted we decided to try the restaurant recommended by our new friend. What a delight. This quiet Italian restaurant run by "Gustav" who turned out to be "Guiseppe from Naples" was a truly great find. Our host had little or no English but brought ingredients to our table to illustrate what was on the menu. With a smattering of German and Italian being exchanged we left the restaurant as great friends. We wonder what stories are being shared around the community about these strange people from New Zealand. We are sure the stories are complimentary and those New Zealanders following in our footsteps are sure of a warm welcome.
