Kirsten has been going and going.... so, this morning, not a creature stirred not even a mouse....
Yea, we sleep in, no calls from Bea, and shutters were put down to block the sunrise. I believe it was 9 am before we rolled out of bed. Both of us sitting at the table wanting the other to make coffee, finally Kirsten caved and made us a pot of coffee. Thank you, Kirsten, I’m so used to my Keurig coffee maker.
We are dragging yes; I believe I have kept with Kirsten until even she needs a rest day.
Thank God!
We eat breakfast and by the time we finish, Kirsten is perky. Me, I’m looking to take a nap before lunch.
I want to walk up to the Beer Garden above our apartment and have a late lunch, then we’ll come back and this evening we’ll go and have dinner in this vineyard over in Ettenheim.
So much for the rest day...
So around 1 pm this afternoon, Kirsten and I head out up the mountain. Ok, it might not be the Alps, but these are some serious hills here. After about 45 minutes
we come upon the beer garden we came upon on Monday’s hike. It was closed then so I made sure it was open today.
We sat there and has a salad and beer, LOL....
After a couple of hours of relaxing and discussing our future vacation plans, we filled up our water bottles and down the hill we trekked. Ok, we discussed all the houses also, just in case I need to write this trip off.
After a nice nap, we climbed into the car and over the mountain we went. Looking for the vineyard.
Ok, if you didn’t know .... Europe is having a HEAT WAVE, and yes, we are right in the middle of it. Today was a high of 100 degree’s plus and tomorrow will be no different.
We find the vineyard after many Umleitungs “detours” we found the vineyard, and yes, it’s located on a gravel road. That’s where you always find the best adventures.
It was such a relaxing dinner we sat and talked, sipped wine and snacked on Flammkuchen “Pizza”.
You know by the time I finish this blog you’ll be fluent in German... Just saying...
After dinner, we made it back to our apartment; stopping and watching the sunset.
You can never see enough sunsets, so I suggest stopping with your someone, hold hands and for a few moments watch the sun go down. You don’t have to talk; the sunset says it all.
You know, God made sunsets for that reason. It’s in the bible somewhere I really don’t quite remember, I think it’s in Genius, chapter 3, somewhere.
Good night...
Friday
Finally, a Rest Day....
Yes, were really taking it easy. We have breakfast, clean up the apartment and just lay around relaxing.
Kirsten fixed us lunch and we went down next to the river and put our feet into the cool water and laid around just napping and relaxing.
We then came back to the apartment and took another nap, what a napping day.
We woke up and Kirsten wants to try this restaurant in the village, like I’m going to object.
The evening is finally cooling down, we’re on the terrace along with lots of other couples.
Reading the menu, I order a Cordon Blue dish and Kirsten
orders a pork steak over noodles with a rich mushroom sauce. The menu had fish, but we never really think of fish and Germany in the same thought.
Well, the table next to us orders fish. We see the chef walking toward the river with a net.
Yep, you guessed it he just went and caught two fish and was walking back with them to cook. Can it get any fresher than that? I even took photos check them out.
After dinner we wind back up the hill to our apartment and enjoy the cool evening.
Good night....
Oh Yeah, tomorrow is Kirsten’s birthday, PARTY!
