On the 23rd of August we drove to France for groceries. We drove through the Swarzwald and pulled over here to enjoy the view. These people are parasailing, it looks like so much fun! I hope I get a chance to do this before I leave!!! The grocery store we went to in France is called Cora. It is the coolest grocery store I have ever been too!!! They have soooooooo much food. We bought several cases of French wine, a variety of French cheese and also pate. Oh, and of we also bought bagettes! Delicious!! Most of the food was actually really affordable. Everything is so fresh and everything looks home-made. You can't find very much food that looks like it was made by some big machine in a factory. In the seafood section ... read more

There is really not much to do in Horb. It is a very small and quaint town. I don't actually live in Horb. Some students live in Horb but a lot of us live in towns nearby Horb. I live in Gottelfingen. Gottelfingen is in Eutingen. Eutingen is a city with four small towns in it. It is about 10-12 Kilometers away from Horb. In the morning, I go to school with my host mom (in a car). She works there so she goes monday-friday anyway. But, she gets off work at 12:30 and I get out of school at 3:00. Usually I take the first bus home, it leaves at 3:50. In the afternoon we drink coffee and eat cake. This was our first night partying in Horb. We went to a new bar/club ... read more

We spend three nights in Stuttgart. The first night is pleasant as well as the first morning when we go to the top of the MBenz tower where you get a great view of Stuttgart. Stuttgart is situated in the centre of a bowl. And around the town are some vineyards. Thus, the city is quite scenic. But after the first day, the sky gets quite gray, with low clouds. There are heavy rains throughout Germany. Our campsite is not that pleasant. We decide to skip the cycle of the last past of the Limes Route because of the rain. Instead we plan to take the train to Frankfurt am Main, where we will stay in a hotel for 3 nights. ... read more

It seems like forever ago that we were looking forward to when we would meet up with my family. Now it is here. After a short plane ride from Lisbon to Germany we met up with Nikki and James. We met in a suburb of Stuttgard and did a tour of the area. Fortunately we were able to stay with some of James' friends and relax in a real home. It was so great to see them and we had to keep telling ourselves that we are in Germany because it is so easy to forget when you are comfortable with family again. Stuttgard is a great city and part of what I would consider the "real" Germany, as opposed to the touristy cities we have visited in other parts of the country. We couldn't ... read more

Well hello everyone, first of all we have good news for everyone--we finally have received our bags as of this evening! Thank god, because we are leaving for The Netherlands tomorrow. It has been absolutely amazing staying here, it is going to be hard to leave. Yesterday evening we continued with the traditional foods from Germany and the area. We had all kinds of sausages (weinershnitzle, bratwurt, etc), potato salad (made with oil and vinegar as is local tradition) and finished with local plumschnopps. Every food we have tried has been wonderful. This morning we were planning on going to Munich, but after continued difficulties with Lufthansa, we decided to visit downtown Stuttgart instead. We were told that our bags would not be arriving before we left tomorrow and that we could be reimbursed 100% for ... read more

Hello everyone, Brady and I are doing really well. We are having an absolute blast! We arrived in Frankfurt on the third, but Lufthansa lost our bags (we are still waiting on them as of right now). We have really not done a lot of sightseeing, rather hanging out with Sophie and her friends who are all great. Her parents are the nicest people, very hospitable. The first night we had traditional dinner called spatzle (pronounced shpetzla) which is homemade dough noodles...delicious. Their beer is amazing. The local beer is very spicy and finishes super clean. The wine from the area is extremely dry, red wine made from grapes grown in the neighboring city. Last night Sophie had her 18th birthday and it was pretty wild and so much fun. The drinking age here for beer and ... read more

Geo: 48.7771, 9.18071 GÜN 15 Günlerden Çarşamba Ne kadar çabuk yedik yuttuk 15 günü. Uçağımız 15 :00 civarında Yolun tamamı 250 km filan . Tedbirli olalım diye erkenden yola çıktık. Amacımız erken varırsak biraz da Stuttgart' ta dolanmak. Aracın benzini dolacak vs vs. Erkenden Eguisheim den ayrıldık. Önce yol gereği Colmar'a oradan Selestat a geçeceğiz fakat Tontonumuz bizi D 424 diye bir yola soktu. Biz normal yolumuzda olduğumuzu sanıyoruz. Birden bire Alman hududuna geldik. Elimde harita yok ama kağıt üzerinde Strasbourg tan geçmeyi hayal ediyorum. Tam Alman hududunu geçtik tonton (GPS TOM TOM) sapıttı. Nerede olduğunu bilmiyor Ekran dağı taşı gösteriyor. Sabah erken olduğundan soracak kimse yok etrafta. İngilizlerin tabiri ile "in the middle of ... read more
