So, I'm leaving tomorrow, I'm really getting excited and I definitely can't concentrate on any of the work on my desk. In one hour I'm going home to pack my suitcase and at 11:30 am tomorrow the plane will take off. First stop Bahrain for a 3 hour layover ... read more

Thats right. 3 days of rain and 1 day of sun so far, but i am loving every second of the rain!! My apartment here is sooooo much better than that dump in Nice. Very secure...when people close the doors. But hey, you cant have everything. My roommate is a really sweet Polish girl named Martyna. Shes adorable. And she speaks english, which is good because neither of us know enough french to have a meaningful conversation! The director of my school, Monsier Botton, is adorable. And he speaks about a million languages. And my teacher isnt the best at teaching, he copies everything directly out of a grammar book, but hey, at least i'm learning now! I love this city, and even the people. But i cant write more, i'm going to Le Musee d'Orsay ... read more

Okay so it is day 4 in Paris and I am attempting to type on a crazy keyboard to write this blog. So far it has been a crazy few days. It started off with a close call forgetting ,my video camera at home (dont worry Rob it wasnt all your faul hehe). It was pretty difficult to travel on my own all the way from Gatwick airport to Paris station where I met up with Angela (because my bag was super awkward) but I made it safe and sound. Angela met me at the train station and guided me to our hotel in a what we have now named Paris Harlem. Our hotel is small but it is fairly nice as far as hotel standards go especially since we are getting it for 16 canadian ... read more

Set out with trepidation from Cauteret, worried about the brakes on the twisting gorge down into the valley. Took it very cautiously, at one point embarrassingly being overtaken by a cyclist freewheeling downhill. By passed Lourdes and sped towards Carcasonne. Made excellent progress and stopped for a snack at a café that looked dead from the outside but was packed with everyday Frenchmen (mostly) enjoying their midday long meal. Virtually every table had a bottle of red wine on it. The breathalyser must be very lightly applied here. The café did us an off the cuff salad when we explained that we were veggies. It was delicious. The countryside is gentler here with occasional pretty hill towns such as Montreal. Relieved to get on the camp site just south of the old cite of Carcassone. The ... read more

Yesterday morning I was awakened by drops of water hitting my face. I was not locked in a dungeon having chinese water torture, but rather laying in my sleeping bag, on a tarp, behind some trees, near a farmfield in rural eastern France. It was about three o'clock in the morning. I delayed in setting up my tent in the dark until the rain picked up more. I was forced to use rope and rocks rocks because my stakes could not penetrate the extrememy rocky ground. I woke up again to the pouring rain and whipping wind at about 9. I ate and read in my tent until the rain stopped and the sky brightened, hoping that farmer Pierre would not come rolling by to pick up his hay bales. The day proved to be a ... read more

bonjour from paris! we've had a wonderful few days in paris and it def beats out london as a cultural holiday destination. everywhere you go, there is some sort of musical/ theratrical entertainment. so far, we've witnessed instrumental performances in the train stations, classical music in carparks, and puppet shows on the train - music everywhere! paris really seems to exude creativity, and this can be seen around street corners anywhere. a special mentions goes to salim, a true artisitc genuis who bends metal wire into practically anything. and this other guy (didnt really catch his name) who sketches portraits on the banks of the seine river.. ush and i had one done.. will post photo up next time other places of interest, ;usee d'orsay, le louvre (where priya had a brief run in with security ... read more
