Cooler and breezier today but it stayed dry. Our route was through Waddington, Bashall Barn, Cowark, Whitewell, Leagram, Chipping and to Little Town Dairy for a take away. ( Great to see other CBC members). Then home via Rock Brow and Chaigley.
Our virtual journey would be leaving Saint Gervacy and continuing on tiny roads through vine-yards, orchards and occasional patches of reed covered marshes. It is very flat and hot. As always each vine-yard has a sign with its name on and many try to tempt you in for wine tasting.
For many years our trips had to be in late July or August due to me teaching for a living. This almost always guaranteed good weather (except for August 2014 which was quite wet, but still warm) and as we moved further south , each day, the temperature would rise. By the time we were this far south it was very hot and we would often be seeking shade to stop in and reapplying the sun cream at very regular intervals.
Our hotel for the night is just outside Gallargues le Montueux, a small town built on top of a small hill with great views overlooking
the coast. We stayed here for the night in 2011. There was a power cut in the evening so the restaurant couldn't make any meals. We had a choice of paella or pizza which was brought in from the local take away. The pizza was fine and the bar was open so all was good.
Photos show our hotel for the night and more grapes!
