Europe » France » Normandy » Rouen By Vilius March 23rd 2007 Will GordonHere are some pictures of Rouen. I spent the afternoon walking around the city with Eric, the Quebecois and history professor. It is an interesting and beautiful (very old) city.
Last summer I was playing baseball in Lithuania, coaching in Moscow, hitching through Bavaria, and working construction in the South of France. Who knows what this summer will bring.

RouenBehind me is a Cathedral built around the 14th century. The buildings date to the 17th and 18th centuries (look closely, most of them are swayed a bit).
Rouen CathedralThe tallest point on this Cathedral was finished in the middle of the 19th century. At the time it was the tallest man-made structure in the world, and remained so until the Eiffel Tower was built
Missing headsDuring the French Revolution many churches were defaced as a rebellion against the Church. It is common now to see many sculptures/carvings with figures with their heads chopped off. Many of the heads of figures on the Rouen Cathedral are missing.
