14h23 atterissage a Mexico
25th of December 2007 For the ones who might not be aware of it I'm doing a 3 months trip around North-America.
It all started at 10pm on the 25th of december 2007.After a hectic Christmas day I finally decide it's time to start packing...2h30 before departure!
The whole thing is sorted in less than an hour.My brother Xavier and his girlfriend Caroline pick me up in Montelier and we still have over one hour to enjoy a late evening tea at my good mate Fabien's who lives around the corner of Valence train station.
26th of December 2007 00h50 night train to Paris-Austerlitz
06h45 RER to Charles de Gaulle Airport
10H00 take-off from Paris
11h20 landing and stopover at Zurich
12h50 take-off from Zurich
15h15 (local time) landing at Montreal 8h and 6000km later (22h15 french time)
Montreal is only a half a day stopover for the time being.Just enough for a warm and alcoholic catch up with my good old mate David who's been living in Quebec for about 3 years now.A couple of pints and a good meal later (4am french time) I fall asleep like a baby at Dave's place.Hectic day! 27th of December 2007 03h30 am taxi for Montreal airport
06h00 take-off from Montreal
07h37 landing and quick stopover at Chicago
10h00 take-off from chicago
14h23 landing at Mexico
After struggling a bit to get my suitcase back and my passport stamped I met my local friend Alejandro Novoa Novoa who's come to pick me up with his sporty car and his big 70s sunglasses. We're heading straight away to his dad's "whipped cream factory" for the end of the year lunch with the head staffs and main clients of the family company ILSA FRIGO.Awesome and impressive meal followed by a guided tour of the factory.I also discovered the "a la Mexican" driving:grand prix in the huge traffic jam of the gigacity, endless zigzaging at a mad speed.Overtaking cars on both sides at up to 150km/h.No need to stop at the red light if you don't feel like it...pretty intense stuff!!!
A quick note to introduce Alex for the readers who might not know him.Alex is one of the first person I met when I arrived in London.I got to know him while we were both staying at the infamous Bowden Court Hostel in Notting Hill Gate where I spent my first 18 months in London.Alex helped me a lot in many ways during my early days in the english capital.I could hardly speak English and he was blessed with incomparable patience with me.All in all he's one of the very few person I met in my very early days in London I'm still in touch with after 7 years.
19h00 heading to Mexico city airport with Alex and his mate Jorge
21h00 take-off from mexico City
23h00 landing at Cancun where a mate of Jorge pick us up with his 4x4
00h30 arrival at PLAYA DEL CARMEN Conclusion After more than 55h of knocking about,5 flights and over 10000km I finally get to have a break...knackered!
That's about it on the start of the trip.Next article will be about the first step:PLAYA DEL CARMEN
