Hey Dudes, Just a quick blog to mostly say Merry Christmas actually! It will already be xmas day over in NZ, but we still have a few hours to go. I’ve had a most wonderful few days, and am hoping this continues into the festive period ahead. Judging by the amount of alcohol we just bought at the supermarket for tomorrow, I suspect it will ;) Gosh 8 people need a lot of food and drink for one day! In fact we just did our huge xmas supermarket trip, it took Torse and I the best part of 2 hours to get round the shop, even after having made a menu and a list at home! We saw these guys stealing prawns to eat as they went round the shop, and another guy who while leanign ... read more

Hi Everyone! How are you all? Getting excited about xmas? I am, surprisingly, since it is going to be a bit of a weird one! Kiwis and Aussies in out little wee appartment! I suspect alcohol will help merry things up a bit! So anyway, what have you all been up to? Holidays yet? Eamonn arrived in Paris on Wednesday morning, Paris was almost entirely covered in fog, couldn’t even see the Eiffel tower, but it was great to see him again. After a breakfast of real french pasties in a little cafe he slept most of the day, bowled over by the cold, jet lag and only 4 hours sleep on the plane! So glad i’ve always been able to sleep while travelling. We went out for dinner though, and went for a walk around ... read more

Grrrrr so my whole blog entry just got deleted. SO annoying. Sigh, here we go again! Hey everyone! I can’t believe it is December already. Exams are over (thank goodness) and I am very pleased that I never have to study at this organisationally challenged university ever again! Honestly it has nearly killed us several times this semester. On a more positive note, I spent a wonderful weekend a few weeks back with my old host family down in the Ardèche. Torse, Keiran and I had visited the valrhona chocolate factory on the friday near Tournon where I went to school, and I spent the rest of the weekend with the Matieus. It was lovely to see all the family again, and the changes they are making to the house etc. Went out for dinner on ... read more

Hey Guys, Firstly huge apologies for my slackness with both these journals and emails. I just can't figure out where all my time is disappearing too. Its going so quickly! On the upside it's only 4 weeks till Eamonn arrives in Paris now :) Just a quick catch up on my routine activities; Am playing soccer twice a week at the moment through uni which is heaps of fun. Hardly any girls, but all the guys are good about it and they have pretty awesome skills. Have a couple of french friends through soccer which is cool, and one of them Jerome came to our place for dinner a couple of weeks ago and then asked Torse out by text!! It was so funny, he's a little bit girlfriend desperate but really lovely and quite spunky....he's ... read more

sorry pressed enter by accident! So anyway....I think Terezin was even more moving because it was freezing cold the day we went, which just rubbe din how terrible it must have been to be living there. The bunks were crowded together, and were just wooden slats, 3 or 4 high. The museum there was excellent, retaining the dignity of the people who were imprisoned there, while still evoking the awful history of the time. The thing that really got me was the vividness of the colours and materials...somehow it really brought back how recent all this stuff was. The objects hadn't decayed, and there were many paintings done by the children held there too. These were the most moving for me, as each one had the name of the child atrist under it and whether or ... read more

Hey Everyone! How are you all? Sorry for being so slack recently, even when you don't have a ton to do it takes for ever to accomplish anything. Seriously, systems are not a strong point over here. It is quite frustrating. Yesterday I had replied to some emails and had in fact written the journal entry I'm about to rewrite :p when I was told my time was up on the computer and i had to give it to someone else. Which is normally fine cos you do normally only get an hour here, since there are so few computers and everyone wants to use them. But I aciddentally closed my journal window before it had properly sent and so lost the whole thing. grrr. so anyway, here we go again.... well, life in lyon is ... read more

Hi everyone, How are you all? I hope everyone is doing really well and enjoying life :) Sorry its been a while since my last entry, I haven't been at school to use the computers! Class finally starts for me this afternoon, Contemporary Indian Society, just for a little variety!! Should be intersting to say the least. Oh; some exciting news, last week we got to go to a real european cup soccer match between Olympique Lyonnais and Manchester united! It was heaps of fun, lots of nutty football fans, and way too many different chants to try and figure out in french to yell along with everyone else. One of them goes something like "those who do not jump are not lyon people!" in french of course, and to prove they're real supporters everyone jumps ... read more
