the view from the ski fields
After a day in Paris and a night with Floriane we trained to Grenoble and then bused to Villard de Lans, the small ski village where we would be spending the next five days. We found our accommodation, an appartment in a building just 200m from the foot of the slopes, incredible views. We were pumped as to hit the gnarly slopes. we didnt get into our appartment until late so we crashed in bed ready for the next day. we started by catching the cable car and chairlifts to a spot we thought would be good to find our feet, then the carnage began! we found our asses ok. in a couple of hours we had it and were flying down the slopes, i forgot how much fun it was, the next day alice changed to skis as she allready knew how to ski and wasnt enjoying snowboarding that much. we had a good second day always improving (our bruises getting bigger). on the third day we got up and it was full on snowing and had been for most of the night so there was a nice 2 inch powder cover over the already 75cm of snow. this was
a fun day, i had way more confidence and that led me to flogg myself alot, i jumped off a ledge onto a downwards slope which turned out to be rocks covered by a thin layer of powder, i ended up on those. it hurt. i also did some other stupid things which gave me bruises but it was all jolly good fun. we got better as the days went on and on the last day we had another dusting of snow. so we set off and did some harder runs which were pretty bloody steep.
We had done grocery shopping in the little town, so almost every night we cooked our own dinner so we were well fed, we burnt alot of fuel on the slopes so we had to be. after the carnage of the mountain, we were spent we were both sore all over with massive smiles on our faces, we got some good photos and had a ball. off to see the rest france has to offer now!
