Impressions of Marseille

Here are a few pictures to capture the spirit of Marseille, from its stylish shops and wide squares, the morning fish stalls on the quayside, pavement cafés, the Arab quarter redolent of spices and coffee, broken Heineken bottles and soiled rags littering steps and pavements, the elegant yachts and blue fishing boats, restaurants serving fresh seafood in the vieux port, the posters for music festivals, defiant graffiti in the Panier district, buskers walking the restaurant row playing Besame Mucho on guitars and piano accordians. It's at once colourful and scruffy, vibrant and edgy, and a great place to pass the time.
