Hello all, Welcome to the first blog post of who knows how many, remember to subscribe at the end so you get sent an email if I update my posts. Well I finally find myself with an untimed internet connection and an English keyboard, so I thought I might as well update you on what's going on. I wanted to add some of the video to this entry but I don't want to chance trying to upload the software for the camera onto my boss's PC. The last time I did that I was sitting in an upstairs office in an Austrlia bar in Lille only to ind out I'd just crashed the PC which runs the bar's cash register down stairs. I had a bit of a shock arricing in Milan from Dubai. In typical ... read more

Another train ride into Antibes, France. This is the final leg of our Mediterranean trip. It is the French Riviera, but there are no crowds and no suntans. Traveling during the off season is perfect, if you don't like crowds. Places like this are sun havens, even at this time of year in Europe, and it is what we appreciated. One day was spent staying in Antibes just to walk around the tip of the Cap d'Antibes peninsula. It is a dramatic public coastline with gates that must be leading from luxurious mansions on the other side of the walls. All along the 6 mile walk we ran into others perched on the rocks resting with their dogs or having a bite of lunch. The path abruptly turns into the woods, and we later learned that ... read more

Hayat güzel be ... Bu Antibes ,benim gençliğimin en "Inn" yerlerinden biri. Brigitte Bardot ve benzer ne kadar ünlü varsa, buralarda fink atmışlar. Ne var ki günümüzde artık o denli popüler değil galiba... We woke this morning after an absolutely fantastic nights sleep in our hotel room. We ate breakfast downstairs then packed our bags to meet at the bus around the corner for 9AM. Eventually after waiting for people who got lost on the way, we jumped aboard the bus and were on our way. Since we didn’t go to Avignon after the events of yesterday, we were stopping there for lunch and a quick browse around before we headed for the French Riviera. Most people were happy just skipping Avignon so we had more time in the French Riviera but apparently according to Jamie we had to stop there. After a few hours in the bus we were in Avignon, we jumped out of the bus and had a look around this small but historical town. The ... read more

Antibes We left Cinque Terre from the car park up the hill, this time toward Monterosso and across to the Autostrasse following the coast line and seeing the villages tucked away on the range, the olive orchards that crowd the road with great orange nets strung beneath them to catch the olives when they are picked-shaken (?) from the trees and then once on the Autostrasse away at high speed to France. We were doing 130 kph and cars were flying past us! Again it was a highway of classical Italian proportion; carved through the mountains and strung above the valleys. The road past the back of Monaco was high on the range and from the range we looked down over the coast. We thought there were massive tourist ships in port in one area ... read more

Hi everyone! This weekend Jeff and I spent lots of time exploring Antibes and discovering nearby towns. Last night we went on a long walk through Antibes and I took lots of pictures! The town is so lively at night and all the narrow streets are lit up for people to walk through. Although the town is small, the night life here is very much alive and we feel very safe being out in the evenings. After a good nights rest, Jeff and I took a bus to a nearby town called Villeneuve-Loubet and spent the afternoon exploring. I took some pictures of the town and some of the things that we enjoyed. Before catching the bus home we ordered a bottle of wine at a cute restaurant in town and looked out on the rain. ... read more

Bonjour everyone! Naturally, since I just started work last week, we already have a 5 day long weekend. It's the French way, they say May is all holidays and the rest of the summer everyone is on strike :) So we've been exploring Antibes in our time off. We took a bus down to the Cap d'Antibes, which is the tip of the peninsula, and walked around the rocky shores and got lots of pictures. Yesterday we visited the Museum of Archeology in Antibes. We snapped one picture before being warned by the staff that cameras were not allowed! We spent the rest of our time reading on the beach and enjoying the nice weather. Yesterday we had some amazing mussels at a local restaurant. They were very tasty as long as we didn't examen them ... read more

Hello all! Jeff and I arrived in Antibes two days ago and already have lots of pictures for you as we have been busy exploring the town. We are living in an apartment here with two other guys, Nico and Sylvain, and are enjoying being settled as opposed to living out of a suitcase in a hotel. Antibes is a beautiful little town just outside of Nice. It is made up of narrow cobblestone streets and little stores selling just about everything that you can think of. We have discovered a cute little bakery at the end of our street and have been buying baguettes there as often as we can as we would not fit in here without them. We have also been buying lots of cheese here as there is so much selection and ... read more

That morning I headed for Gare Routiere to take the bus to Antibes and explore alone. The old city was so relaxing and was not overrun by corporations or anything very touristy..yet. I found myself walking along the wall of the city that bordered sharp rocks and salty ocean spray. The beach was pretty (of course) and sat in a bay that was almost protected all the way around by rocks. I kind of wished I brough my swimsuit along, but I was on the verge of getting sunburned, so it was better that I stayed out of the sun as much as possible (which is kind of impossible). On the bus ride back, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I got back to the hostel and passed out for 30 minutes before Celeste came ... read more
