This morning we woke up really early to go to Paris...but we still missed the train :-(

Instead we spent the day wondering around some local towns including Compiegne and Pierrefonds, but first we went into Soissons.

Soissons is one of the most ancient towns in France, so there were lots of cool old buildings to look at, including a huge cathedral. It was also full of gorgeous looking bakeries and I got to try my very first pain-au-chocolat! It was delicious, though I was a bit messy with it :-) We spent an hour or so just wandering around the town and looking at the local market stalls. My favourite stall had lots of chickens, ducks and rabbits for sale - unfortunately daddy wouldn't let me have one.

Next we headed to Compiegne. Just a quick stop here (to get a train timetable so we didn't miss the train tomorrow!), but we saw the very old and grand town hall, as well as the area around the river. It was all very pretty.

Finally we went to Pierrefonds to see the awesome medieval Chateau. It was massive and towered over the village. We didn't go inside the castle but the outside was very impressive. We followed this with a quick walk in the quaint village, a look at the ducks in the pond and picnic.

After lunch we headed back to the campsite for a nap and a splash in the pool. Lots of fun again.
