A definite autumnal feel to the day when I opened the Tandy door to check the weather this morning. More leaves on the ground and the campsite grass was very damp. Had a lovely visitor just across the river, a massive Grey Heron who perched himself on a tree trunk and sat watching the river waiting for his breakfast to swim past. We made a leisurely start as only had the small town and its chateau to visit. I totally confused Bob once we were in the town as he, having forgotten his watch, relied on me for a time check. We’ve left the sea behind and ventured inland. It seems my suspicions were correct. While we have been enjoying some quite reasonable weather on the coast, inland it has been raining. And raining it was today, for quite a good part of our drive. We used dual carriageways to get us round and past Bordeaux and it was drizzling all the way. Once clear of the city we changed to quieter roads as we drove due north up through the vineyards. We went round Cognac and a few other towns which got in our way and through a few smaller villages.
