Square in Veules-les-roses
Probably in memory of the beer we drank! Friday 14th May 2010 - Monday 24th May
Firstly apologies for not completing the blog of our last few days of our previous trip. In the main this was due to me giving Liz and myself a decent dose of food poisoning during a one night stay in a campsite in St. Valery sur Somme, not the best way to finish that leg of our trip. Anyway we lived to tell the tale as is evident and off to Inverness for my niece Sandra’s wedding to Mick which was a double celebration due to her sister Jenny bringing her two day old baby boy Robbie to the do. It was two weddings in two weeks (friends Mandy and Colin tied the knot and we had a great time at their bash in Dunning). Liz also crammed in her obligatory three days keeping in touch with the school and then it was off on our next trip, complete this time with Branston the dog who is the unknowing owner of a shiny new pet passport.
It had been our original intention to go to Scandinavia, however as the ferry no longer goes direct from the UK and we would need
Niece's wedding
The happy couple Mick and Sandra to go via Denmark, together with a return trip ferry cost Circa. £1200 (that is an awful lot of good French wine!) we ended up going straight back to France arriving on the 15th May. This coincided with a local French holiday (Ascension). We had decided to return to Le Touquet on the north coast (south/west of Boulogne) a place we had seen in only in terrible weather previously which seemed like a good idea until upon arrival we found half of the French motorhoming community were in town for a major horse event. To cut short we ended up camped in the Aire situated in the grounds of aforementioned horseshow (which we never bothered to watch) and had a great time cycling round the very manicured environs of Le Touquet, (N50˚31.585’ - E001˚35.907’) which is also known as Paris Plage. It was a bit surreal as we had only just squeezed in as one of the last hundred or so motorhomes on the Friday night only to find on Monday we were one of just five remaining in the same site. After Le Touquet we went to St. Valery en Caux just west of Dieppe. We were here on November
Cameron
Nephew Cameron with friend. of last year and had to get out at 6am as we were in danger of being swamped by storm force waves, so it was good to return and see the place in sparkling sunlight and enjoy walking the white chalk cliffs with spectacular views. They have a great affinity with the Scots as our lads led the liberation in this neck of the French woods. There are various monuments and streets named in our honour which are all well tended. After a couple of days in St.Valery we moved to a one night stop in a small village called Brezolles (about 10kms west of Dreux), the weather has really warmed up and we spent hour or two walking round the town and enjoying a couple of beers on a pavement café. Next day we went to La Suze sur Sarthe, (N47˚53.333’ - E 000˚01.850’) which was a pretty spot right on the river which was good for Bran as he spent a lot of time in it trying to keep cool in the 30 degree heat. Whilst out on a walk we watched a guy playing a huge fish of about 30lbs and just as he was trying to

baby Robbie with big brother Bob land it the fish got off, you had to feel sorry for him.
It is now Monday the 24th and we are in a campsite in the town of La Fleche sur Loir. We will stay here for 2-3 days to get some laundry done, buy provisions at the market on Wednesday, use the campsite Wi-Fi and hopefully get a French sim card for our mobile broadband to give us more access to the internet. There is fishing on the river (Loir) so I am hoping to get an hour or two to give the locals some amusement as I have no idea what tactics to use or indeed what type of fish are in the river. Our plan is to pick up the river Loire around Angers and then follow its course all the way to St.Etienne and then into the Ardeche, how long that’s going to take and what we will do after we have no idea.
