Well Well…I bet you all thought you heard the last off me hey?
Although my RTW trip is over and I have been falling into depression since returning home, with having to face all the stress and burden of the real world and how I wish I could escape again. Dreaming of a far far away land i will venture to in the future when that opportunity will open again for me.
So when a friend invited me to join him on an adventure on his motorbike through the Pyrenees… It was a very hard decision to accept 😊
THE MOTORCYLE DAIRY.
Day 1 - The journey started from Newbury to Portsmouth and we had to get the overnight ferry over to La Harve.
Day 2 - The initial plan was not to go on the main highway so that we can see, visit some nice villages on the way down to Bordeaux, where Railton’s brother lived not so far from. With little sleep from the ferry and although we rode past some lovely villages 12 hours of riding on a bike almost killed us, well we all had aching bums by the end of it.

One of the village we stopped over for lunch on a way down from LaHarve to Bordeaux Linda & Russell’s home was amazing, just outside of Bordeaux their old converted Monastery with acres of land around was such a peaceful retreat. Linda and Russell was so welcoming together with their son Jack and adorable triplets Charlotte, Elizabeth and Leah who are full of character was so much fun to play with.
Day 3 - The pool was great relaxing first thing in the morning the next day. Felt all inspired there I tried to to do some sketching but was so out of practice I was so a shame of myself :0)
Day 4 - Starting our Motorcycle Tour. Heading down through Pau toward the Pyrenees. Was hoping to leave at 10am but that didn’t happen so we set of at noon and and i was all excited sitting at the back…wooohhoooo!!!
Riding through into to Pyrenees and crossing the French border over to Spain. The scenery was stunning, passing lakes with snow capped mountain ranges.
Arrived at Broto our stop for the night, a cute little village with a stunning waterfall.
Day 5 - Up early and heading to Andorra, again the scenery was stunning winding roads and dramatic gauges on the
Steve & Railton trying to find a shorter route.
To make up time for getting lost and our bum was starting to hurt now. bike was amazing we also had a great stretch of road where Railton was able to put some really speed on….that was really exhilarating!!!... such a buzz!!
Arriving to Andorra we was both a little disappointed the town was dull and grey and as it was mainly a skiing resort it was also empty and pretty lifeless. There was more petrol stations than anything (35 in a stretch of 16miles). We arrived at 4pm hoping there was something to see but ended up going to a spa to unwine..so it all turned out ok.
Day 6 - Eager to move on from Andorra we heading back to Spain to continue our tour back through to France. We pass a town call Sort which had great river rapids which riding pass made me want to extend this tour even more to do some rafting.
We stopped at a lovely lake for lunch, again so beautiful and I was so happy to have had this opportunity again to see these amazing places.
This day we stopped at alot places, making videos coming down the valleys and snapping away trying to capture the amazing splendour surrounding us.
With all the stopping

i just had to take this picture... we fell behind schedule and at the last 20 miles we got slowed down by heavy fog or more we was riding through the thick clouds. This was an experience, descending from 1700m through thick fog not being able to see a meter in front of us. Not being able to see how steep the cliff edge was that wasn’t protected with any barriers. I must say it was very spooky especially when we rode through caves/tunnels, old cobble stone villages that looked empty and deserted. A funny incident as we continued in the fog…hearing the cow bell in the distant and all of the sudden one appearing in front of us in the middle of the road freaking us out.
We finally made to Larun but arriving at 10pm we was lucky to get a room but the village is soo small everything was close for food.. so no food we had to op for a liquid dinner…. Shots all the way trying different alcohol on the shelf…luckily for us they didn’t have to much of a selection otherwise we would have slept in the bar.
Day 7 - returning to Bordeaux via the great sandy Dune Pyla..the
biggest sand dune in Europe and it so reminded me of the one in Peru.. sand boarding!!
Day 8 - had a little lie in and went exploring in Bordeaux, I little window shopping for me and site seeing.
Day 9 - the dreaded journey back… this time we decided to make it the quickiest route back not the scenic option so all the way up the highway we flew…holding on tight as they speed along.
What a lovely trip it was, I had such a lovely time and I suppose now its time to start working and get back to the boring chores of the working life huh.
Im ready now !!!!...bring it on I need to make some money for my next big trip
