Another day another chateau. This time into the country side to Chateau de Concrecheaux (I think)....
Stop in the little village for brunch - fresh sandwiches of half baguette filled with jambon et frommage for moi and similar with salad for Chris. Super crispy and fresh and nice. Into the chateau and must have lust had a train arrive -guessed it, lots of people and queues.
Parked the car and got organised and by the time we got to the ticket office all the crowd had gone - and our sandwiches as well. Yum.
Great gardens and off we go again. This castle has a chequers history, wife, mistress who took over and lots of illegitimate and legitimate bastard children - sounds like Home and Away......
After 2 hours we call it quits and head south towards Toulouse. We decide that is easier to break the Mildura type distance in half and stay at Limoges tonight (pretty little about in the centre of France....
The drive to Limoges is mostly via motorway but the first hour is through the country roads at 90kmh on thin roads that wind through little villages - a lot like we see in the Tour de France pictures - and guess what, yes, we get stuck behind a bunch of cyclists on a road race somewhere. Oh well, c'est la vie....... Next town they turn right we go straight on. All happy.
Arrive at Limoges and finally get Stella to tell us where we are trying to stay. Another night at a Mercure hotel - should have signed up for frequent visitor deals in Oz. At least their standard is good and not too expensive.
Spoke to the girls today via Viber - mostly good but the connection kept dropping out - got most of the news about home and Charlie, etc. good to be able to keep in touch so easily with tools like this. Also got some pics of the driveway which is looking really good - hopefully the rain stays away and Mike can finish the cobblestones (and don't we know about cobblestones over here) and it is pretty well done.
On to Toulouse and some time with Alain and Josette - looking forward to catching up with Judy and David's "frog" friends - Alain has been very helpfulwith his information and tips for us while we have been in France.
