Got dressed hopefully in suntop again but soon changed to a t-shirt as, as expected, yesterday’s lovely sunshine had turned cloudy. We decided to scooter in the opposite direction to yesterday, north towards Sainte-Marie le Mer. This stretch of coastline is a seemingly never ending sandy beach. The beach at Sainte-Marie was really good and I wished I had dressed to swim as the sun had come out again and the sea looked lovely. The sea-line had been built so that small coves are formed making lovely protected pools. No doubt necessary as this is a windy coast. We decided that later on we would return to the campsite, get swimming things and go to the beach at Canet-Plage. Not much happening at Sainte-Marie Plage. If it has a seaside centre we failed to find it ... read more

For the very first time this trip I dressed with confidence, from getting up, in suntop and shorts. Today the weather has been exactly as we expect it to be on our September trip, once we are right in the south. Blue sky and glorious sunshine. Perfect.. We scootered along to the town and the main beach at Canet-Plage. A long, long stretch of sand already with quite a few occupants taking advantage of the first proper sun for days. Stopped for a coffee and people-watch then went a bit further south following the coast until we came to the Canet en Roussillon Lake just set back a little from the road. This is a wildlife reserve, always a good sort of place for a stroll so we took one and it was very pleasant. There ... read more

8 degrees in the night. Woke up and dressed with socks on and a suntop for a vest under my the one winter-weight sweatshirt I had with me. Weather undecided. Blue sky and lots of cloud one side, ominous grey the other. I rechecked the forecast for the coast and concluded that it would stay good there for next 3 days but after that rain likely. Decided to leave today and make the most of the sunshine while it is there. A shame not to explore this area but scootering round when it is cold is no fun at all especially when the forecast showed showers to be very likely. Quickly packed Tandy up and left. Had already paid for the 2 nights so didn’t bother stopping off at reception, just got on the way. A ... read more

The BBA V3 has come to the end of the adventure around Spain and we have certainly covered at least the coastal part with a little interior driving as well. We came to Spain without any real idea of how we would enjoy the sights and travel and leave with a mixed feeling of being pleased to have seen and taken in the history where we travelled but also a bit disappointed with the sameness of some of the scenery. Mind you we are spoilt coming from such a scenic country as New Zealand has a deserved reputation for. We caught the flu in Santiago and that didn’t help our mindset for a week or so and our time in Portugal suffered because of that although we were lifted during our short time near Nazare where ... read more
