Pretty in pink!Pretty in pink!Pretty in pink!

Thanks to careful planning, this was the ONLY time we were dressed in the same colors.
July 10, 2014 - Paris, again - Wendy and I came to the conclusion that two “older” ladies, traveling on their own, really need a personal “Jean-Sebastian”, aged about 25-30, to do everything, including carrying their vast amounts of overweight luggage, for them. Unfortunately, we didn’t have one of these, and were reduced to schlepping all our stuff up and down stairs in train stations. Next time, we say to ourselves….

Upon arrival in Paris, we arrived in our TINY Ile St Louis apartment and got settled in, which included rearranging furniture so that Wendy wouldn’t encounter hazards in the middle of the night…Kevin had picked up a couple of Groupon coupons, similar to GrabOne in New Zealand, and the first one was for Brasserie du Louvre, in the Hotel du Louvre, part of the Hyatt chain. I thought, Oh, oh, hotel food…having worked in a hotel and knowing quality can be dodgy. Well, were we in for a surprise! The menu, 3 courses, was selected from the a la carte menu, and it was wonderful from start to finish, as was the service. The maitre d’ was horrified when she saw what had been brought out as Wendy’s salad,

Perfect presentation, and the taste was good as well, said Wendy.
and brought her the correct version. I will not post the “before” and “after”, but half the items were missing. Correction was made and all was good. And then Wendy said her steak was the best she had ever had in France, from Charolais beef (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charolais_cattle). I could not fault my salmon tartare or sautéed prawns. Dessert saw Wendy consuming a millefuielle while I went for the Crepes Suzettes, which I hadn’t had in years. I had forgotten how rich they were.

We have waddled to the Metro to get our train home. It is light until 10:30 or so, and lovely to walk when it is cooler, but we are too full. I have a wonderful little Metro app for my Ipad which will get a lot of use this week, I am sure. All in all, this restaurant was one of the best this trip. Thanks for finding this Kevin!

With a hint of lemon. The vegetables were turnips and carrots, including a purple carrot. Who knew?? Sliced thinly with a gadget I need.

Et moi aussi. A winning meal, from my perspective.

They may not look that good, but it was pure butter, sugar and Grand Marnier, with a bit of fresh orange zest.

1000 layers. Exactly. With whipped cream and fruit on top, and a vanilla pod to scrape. Looked almost as good as mine!
