Today was a very, very lazy day. So lazy in fact I did absolutely nothing, and it felt great.
I bussed to Brussels, but we arrived ridiculously early (5:30am instead of 6:30am) so I decided to hop right on a bus to Paris at 9am to kill a few hours. Ah, the joys of a bus pass. I had to wait a bit though, so I walked down to the supermarket where I got interviewed by some Brussels radio station about Michael Jackson's death... They asked for my reaction, I was like... uhm... c'est triste? I def didn't know what to say haha. Worst, interview, ever.
ANYWAY. On to Paris. Originally the plan was to dump my bag somewhere and then go shopping or see a movie (I told you, I’m being lazy today!), but I quickly realized there are no lockers here… like, anywhere. I went to the bus station, and two of the three major train stations. I didn’t feel like spending more money to get the third, so I packed it in and came back to the bus station which happens to be connected to a mall.
But more importantly than this mall, it’s connected to a McDonald’s. And why is this important? Quite simply, McD’s = free internet. Perfect.
I ended up using the day to do my course selections (oh UofO, how I loathe thee), plan some Munich stuff, send a few emails, and update this of course.
I also had a nice talk with a Parisian again. He was asking questions about my netbook, like how much it cost and if it’s hard to type with. Obv he clued in I’m not from around here and when I said I’m from Canada he’s like, “oh t’es une Canadiennnne. Quebecoise, oui?” Ughhhh, no! I’m tired of explaining more than Quebecers speak French, and that Ottawa is the capital, and that Ottawa is pretty bilingual. Poop.
Other than the frustration of explaining Canada to him, we had a nice chat about Paris. He asked how I liked it, and if I’d ever want to live here. I’m like no haha - it’s nice, but no. We ended with him telling me to say hi to my neighbour for him, to say hi to Obama.
I was wondering when I’d here Obama’s name in my travels.
Going back to the train stations, I find it very bizarre to see the military walking around w/ their weapons. Maybe it’s just me, but seeing them walk around in groups of 4 is not a calming experience, and it certainly doesn’t make me feel very safe… if anything it makes me think I should be worrying. I’m glad we don’t have that in Ottawa.
Anyway, I’m off to Munich tonight where I’ll be spending the next 3 days. Tres excited!
And to end on a completely random note - I’m so tired of smelling pee it’s not even funny… if I’m going to pay to use the washroom, I’d at least like it to be clean.

so... you didn't stay in Brussels?? What about the peeing boy?? The chocofigures of the peeing boy T___T *rejected* And omg.. don't even get me started on UofO.. GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHhh. I swear, I almost had an aneurysm at work on the 22nd/23rd. Anyway, so I was listening to the radio at work today, and (nearly) every song was MJs. Newspapers were: Big Headline=Michael Jackson, followed by a small blurb on Farrah Fawcett. Just a quick question, how come I was unaware that Ottawa is pretty bilingual (its University seems to prefer one language over the other)?
