Friday was a sea day as we sailed from Malta to Bonifacio on the island of Corsica, which is part of France. We were able to catch up on laundry and just enjoy the cruise. Saturday we arrived in Bonifacio, anchoring just off the town. We simply walked the old streets of the town, did a little shopping and had lunch at a local restaurant. We enjoy lunch off the boat for a local change of pace. Bonifacio is a very old city built on a cliff with some of the building seeming to be close to falling into the ocean, as you can see from some of the pictures I have posted. It was a very nice day. Tomorrow we sail further north to Bandol, France which lies just east of Marseille.... read more

's Namiddags deden ... read more

Jonah and the Whale... Well what a change. Cagliari’s back-streets have been explored, bilges played in, 12v circuits examined and re-examined but we can’t get over the fact that something is different! Richard and Sally arrived on 31 Aug and ever since the Mediterranean has been plunged into depths of winter. The mistral blew through for the last 4 days and strong winds continue to sweep round the south-eastern tip of Sardinia. The new crew Richard “The Blocker” Wallace (not because of his defensive play in the NFL but instead for his role in applying human-loctite to the pipes of the forward heads) is able to strip and reassemble the loo like a US Marine Corps Gunny Sergeant stripping down his M-16. Aunt Sally has made the numerous cups of tea that ... read more

Sunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn! Last chance to get some sun, sea and relaxation before the cold of winter sets in so when a friend asked me to join here and a few friends in Corsica, who was I to say no? Corsica has never been high on the list of places to go in my travels, but having been, it's a beautiful part of the world. A mountainous island in the middle of the meditteranean it combines blue/green water, white beaches, old villages and amazing mountains. Flying in a day after everyone else to Ajaccio I hired a car to make my own way across the island which gave me a great excuse for a detour to Filitosa via the scenic mountainous roads. Filitosa is a prehistoric site near Propriana scattered with menhirs (stones carved with human aspects!). I ... read more
