No castelo é possível ver ... read more

Hello again I don't have anything too important to say but i decided to give an update anyway so I don't forget what I've done in the past couple of days. On Monday 1/19 I woke up and walked down to the Institute de Touraine, it took about 20 minutes to walk there. I can either walk or ride the bus, but I prefer to walk because it is not that far and I like the walk. Tours is a medium size city, by french standards, with 130,000 people. I really really like the city, I think it is a perfect size because you can walk or ride the bus anywhere and there is a lot to do, but it still has the feeling of a smaller city. In general europe is a lot more ... read more

Bonjour tout le monde!(hello everyone!) I decided a blog is the way to go to communicate with everyone abroad. I hope that you will enjoy hearing about what is going on over here. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions if I don't cover them here. I left on Friday afternoon from Denver and made my connection in Dallas. Everything went well and I didn't have any troubles except when I got to Paris and I tried to find my bags. It took me over an hour to find baggage claim but it all worked out in the end. After that I took a bus into Paris. I met the other people that are part of CCA (Central College Abroad), there are 16 of us mosty from the midwest, but there are ... read more

Hi All! One last entry from my TravelBlog account to let you know that I'm switching to a more sedentary blog address to write about my French adventures. Come and find me at . As you've probably noticed, I won't be blogging as JapanEms anymore...I needed to find a more appropriate globe-trotting name for myself. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately for you), with Blogger I won't be able to send e-mail notices every time I update, but I hope you'll check out my page sometimes when you think of me. Also, I'm waiting for my recently-repaired camera to be delivered (hurry up, Mom!) so I don't have any photos posted, but hope to soon. A bientot! ... read more

21st November - 23rd November Arcachon We drove from San Sebastian on Friday in the rain. Leaving behind the wonderful tapa bars. We were staying in a hotel with the Sally and Brian from Palmy. Down the road from Arcachon are the Dune de Pylon. But we did't visit them until we had the Quantock-Holmes with us. Our hotel was perfect. Kitchen and bathroom all separate from all the other rooms. Everyone had a bed with sheets and blankets. Blake The sand dunes were fast and cool. We jumped off the big cliffs. We ran down the big cliffs too. I got sand in my shoes, in my pockets and down my ****. Anton, Nic and Mason built a contraption using the skim board and some rope. They pulled each other around for nearly two hours. ... read more

Hey all, finding a computer to use has been a challenge. I thought internet cafes would be on many blocks if not towns for sure, but unfortunately not. So here I am. back in Paris. Italy was the biggest surprise in that I not only got my document that I was wanting but met and was entertained by several relatives. It was a moment I hadn't really allowed myself to think was possible. I had many of my questions answered by members of my own family and was asked over and over when I was moving back to Italy so we can be a family together! wow.....it was amazing. So I now have several people who I have promised to return.and when I do to be able to speak Italian to them. They were genuinely sad ... read more

13 hour meals, aperitifs with a monk, helping the baker get bread hot from the oven at 6am, scrambling around in the ruins of a 13th century chateau, a private tour of a 12th century monastery, the following are my experiences of the “France Profonde”. As November 11th is a national Holiday in France, and I don’t have classes on Mondays or Wednesdays, Guillaume invited me to spend a long weekend out at his family’s farm in the Centre region of France. We met his cousin, aunt and uncle at their house in the suburbs of Paris and from there drove 2-3 hours south, past the small town of Vendome, past the small village of Montoire, and into the France profonde. We pulled up to Helene and Stephan's house, Helene being the younger sister of Guillaume's ... read more

Well, said my "see ya laters" and returned messages, checked on the details of everyone's accounts, tried to change my phone message and was too rushed to focus to left a note to ask Peggy to do it for me. So if you leave a message for me, don't be thinkin' (havin a sarah palin moment) you've got the wrong number! Well, like I say in class, the best skill of all in my opinion in Wise Mind because I have to think about what I need, not too much, leave enough room to bring home keepsakes and also some of Abbey's stuff she is done with. Then whether i have it all perfect or not, it doesn't matter. My St Francis of Assisi medal goes with everything. :) Opposite to Emotion action is needed. I'd ... read more

I have a confession to make: I am a travel addict. I thought a trip to Japan would relieve my curiosity about life on the other side of the world, but it has only worsened my condition. I am writing from a country house in the county of Changé - not even in Chartres and too small to have been listed in the Travelblog locations list - and I am 4 days into an 11-month stint as a nanny. While my friends are home building careers and buying condos, I am on the road again, spending my savings and pedalling backwards from any notion of settling I may once have had. "What is your plan?" some people have asked. "What are you looking for?" These are very good questions for which answers have eluded me. I ... read more
