We decided to spend some time at Mont St Michel. I am so glad we included this in our itinerary. This church was constructed in the 10th Century, and dedicated to St Michael. It has served different functions since then and has been refurbished over the years. I was in awe as we wandered around the church buildings on this little island. We were lucky to be there to see the tide out and to see how a person could cross to this island at low tide. The photos are self explanatory

We left Dinge early and headed toward San Sebastian, which was our overnight stop before arrived in Portugal. We took the main roads and found that the tolls in France are quite expensive. We paid almost 30 Euro to travel down to just past Bordeaux.

We were quite excited to arrive in San Sebastian to allow us time to explore the beachfront. We were shocked to discover the many changes that had been made to the beachfront since we were here last time (18 months ago). The marina has been moved from the northern aspect of the bay to in the centre of beach and a huge building has been constructed on the beach as well as the construction of a breakwater. The little island that was in the middle of the bay has been removed and I expect was used to create the breakwater. How sad for the visitor to this area It was un-spoilt by the absence of building right on the water. I suppose, money talks.
