Libourne.

On Sunday morning we drove through the vineyards to the village of Libourne, a wine-making centre on the Dordogne River, about 30km east of Bordeaux. The Sunday market was in full swing in the main square and the in streets leading to it. These markets are wonderful, with produce, cooked and raw meats and fish of every description, baked goods, clothing and crafts and just about everything else you can think of. My French professor was probably turning over in his grave as I carried on a quasi-intelligible conversation with a fish monger about the origin of his goods. Throughout France we found the citizenry helpful, patient and more than willing to assist the buyer in making a purchase.
