Here's my thinking.
Four of us are going from Wiltshire to Loo, Cornwall. Two of which are kids and one of which travel with everything in her room. So I have a roof box but don't want to be carrying one all over France. So I am going to pack all the kids stuff into the roof box and all Chicken's and my stuff in the back of the car. This means we can leave the roof box in Cornwall and travel lighter and lower in France. This will also keep the cost of the ferry down.
