Day 27 (Wednesday, September 23, 2009) We left sunny Beaune, and began the two and a half hour drive towards Alsace, where we would stay for two nights in the town of Colmar. I slept for most of the journey, but did wake up at one point to see that the sun was being covered by a very thick layer of fog. Considering it was nearly 12:00 in the afternoon, I found it very strange to see the fog. Luckily, the sun finally won the battle and burned through all of the gray fog because by the time we reached Colmar, there were no clouds in the sky. The next few blogs will be a succesion of little stops all over Europe. Ma'ri will join us in Vienna...but till there we'll be driving around few jewels of Europe. Our car is loaded with goodies, ready to hit 7 countries in the next 12 days. The kilometer counter is already way above the 2000km since we landed in Frankfurt. A lot more new discoveries are awaiting us. You may have to be a little patient for each entry on the blog as I'm not sure of our internet connections in the next few days...and also as I'm still working at the same time while on the road ( yes, yes!). 2.-6.2.09 Uimahallireissu, opiskelua Juha ja Lare saivat joululahjaksi kymmenenkerran kortit meidän paikalliseen uimahalliin, ihan meidän lähiruokakauppojen naapuriin. Nyt vihdoin oli aikaa kokeilla. Lare tuli kotiin todeten "AIKAMOISTA. Siellä oli vieläpä suihkutkin." Isi tarkensi että suihkut oli, muttei tietenkään saunaa, joten hauskaa oli, mutta pienen pojan lämpimänä pitäminen oli haasteellista. Lupasivat mennä toistekin. Äiti puolestaan keskittyi kokeisiin lukemiseen, sen mitä tällä kokoonpanolla pystyy. Jos ei ole vielä tullut suoraan sanottua, niin sanotaan nyt: Lasten kanssa opiskelu on joskus hyvin vaikeaa! Töitäkin kun pitää yhden tehdä. Sitten taas kun on jo saanut hepulin pariin kertaan, muistaa että niiden miniriiviöiden "ansiosta" täällä ollaan opiskelemassa. August 29, 2007 I Live to Eat My Words I know we all eat our words from time to time. I just hate it when it happens to me. Before I left the US I know that I told anyone and everyone (my mom, my sister, Kim, Judi, Becky, Kathy d, Dave and Laura, Pete and Katherine, and dozens at PPMM) that while we were traveling on a budget that “I would never stay in a youth hostel, I was too old for that.” Well, we just spent three days in Interlaken, Switzerland…in a youth hostel. We live to tell…and we may not have been the oldest people there. (second and third but not first!!) After the Lucca experience, while at the Farm we made a reservation for our time in Switzerland. Geo: 48.0807, 7.35997 GUN 11 Günlerden Cumartesi Sabah erken uyandık.Kahvaltımızı yaptık ve bugün yolumuz uzun olduğu için hemen Şahbaz ' a kurulup yola düştük.Önce Almanya ya girdik sonra devam ederek Fransa ya firdik ve yaklaşık 550 km sonra öğleden sonra Colmar'a vardık.Önceden herhangi bir yer saptamadığımız için bir kaç yere girip çıktık.İnanması zor ama çoğu yerde yer yok.Yer olan yerler de broşürdeki fiyatlardan daha uçuk fiyatlar alep ediyorlar.Arayan mevlasını bulur diyorlar .Nihayet Colmar garı karşısında şehre çok yakın bir otel bulduk ve hemen odamıza yerleştik. Yol çok düzgün fakat nereden baksan az da olsa yoruluyorsun. Biraz dinlendikten sonra akşam yemeği için Colmar meydanına indik.Anlaşılan festival gibi bir şey olmuş gündüz .Akşam olmasına rağmen biraz etkinlik var.Biraz gezindik ve daha önce sevdiğimi... read more
