Hi all, it's your favourate traveler again. Well, 3 days ago we made it to our camp site in Older fjord where stayed for 2 nights and also went up to see the midnight sun. That was definatly worth to 900NOK (around AUD180) we had the best night, even our guide was blown away with how clear it was. I will post some photo's for you. I think I even got a bit sun burnt at midnight, there isn't many people that can say that! lol. The next day (I would use days, but I have no idea what day I'm up to, lol) we had a free day to do what we wanted, the only thing was that we were staying where there was a campsite, cafe and a petrol station, so it was a ... read more

How did 30 days go so fast? It's only a second that I wrote my last entry. I've checked some things from my To do -list in this time. The one of the most important thing must be the visa. I now have it (got it today). But I still have some things to do. But nothing big. Well, the biggest thing is to call at the cab service. I need to book a car for myself when arriving Iowa. I already called to the Iowa House and it was weird. It connected immediately there and I got confused. I hadn't prepared in any way, So I needed to write first down my e-mail address and stuff before spelling them. It's just frustrating that my e-mail in the University of Jyvaskyla is nothing rational! I need ... read more

ExcangeTaina RoihaSo, two months to go. On 10th August, I'll be on my way to USA, Iowa. I'm so excited! Still many things to do, though I believe (and hope) that the biggest and hardest part is over. And by that I mean the paper war. The worst and most wonderful part will be the flights there. I've never traveled alone not to mention this far! But no worries (yet), I'll manage. I'll come back here when it's time, until that I can be found from my other blog. World, here I come!... read more

Today was a tough day. I had to say goodbye to the town that has become my home, and the wonderful friends that I had the pleasure of spending my last four months with. The only thing that made this day somewhat comforting was the fact that I'm leaving for my tour around Eastern Europe! This entry is mostly for my "Kortepohja Family" - I just wanted to tell you guys that it was an absolute joy to get to know you all. I'm truly going to miss our parties, brunches, chats, Stammtisches, Spanish singing and the pounding music of my crazy but wonderful neighbours (Flo & Flo) :). We didn't know each other long, but I will never forget you all! To my North American buddies (yes, Bob, of course you're included in this), ... read more

Travelling: me, just me, tired, with blisters in my feet and fucked up ankle as a souvenir from the beautiful Chamonix glacier Route: Nancy- Paris Est, Paris CDG-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Helsinki, Helsinki-Jyväskylä After all the travelling I wanted to visit home. Woke up super-early in Nancy, took the 6am train to Paris Est and made it well to the 9.05 bus nro 350 towards Roissypole (4,2e). The morning sun was shining beautifully between the nice parisian buildings, had Billie Holiday singing to my ears, everything was going smoothly, and I felt happy about the thought going back home, taking already most of my clothes and others not so usefull things back so I could then just take it easy when finally returning home after the exchange year. Normally it takes about one h... read more

It’s been an incredibly busy and hectic week! I haven’t been here for a full week yet, but I have a lot to share with you… Departure from Canada and Arrival in Jyväskylä (‘Yu-vas-cue-la’) I left Canada bright and early on New Year’s Day without having had any sleep and after spending New Year’s Eve with close friends at a concert at the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton. Considering that fact, I had a relatively good flight. I had two seats to myself on my 8-hour flight from Chicago to Stockholm, which was a lifesaver! All in all, the 13-hour journey went well. When I arrived in Helsinki, I made my way to the train station in order to depart to Jyäskylä. It was a little frustrating at this point because I had a difficult time trying ... read more

ROMANIEMI & JYVASKYLA-FINLAND 14/9/06-15/9/06 Can I just say that im so impressed that the name of this town is in the drop down list! Anyway is pronouced V-Vascular or close to it. We left Hammerfest at some ungodly hour of the morning just as it started to hail on us. All part of the travelling experience but Im not sorry to see it go. Between the hike down the mountain to the bathroom and the nervous way the little demountable cabins cling to the side of the cliff its not the most comfortable of stays ...but it was memorable. The best bit by far was the little cabin at the base of the hill where we all gathered around the camp fire (am i sounding sentimental?Sorry). Swapping ghost stories, tales of woe, and what we missed ... read more

On Wednesday morning with a little help from Jim i was able to track down a replacement MP3 player and headphones and nick out and buy them while they stayed to finish some last minute work (!). ill get insurance for the player so in the end itll only be a $250 loss. Jim and Wayne were sweating with all sorts of packing and weight related blowouts but we headed out early and comfortably got through Heathrow to gate 28 with time to spare. i thought i heard someone in the queue get told they were at the wrong gate so we jumped out of the queue only for Jim to say it must be right because they were wearing BA uniforms and give me a bollocking, but i must have heard right because when we ... read more

hey guys! i got into denmark safely, and have had a great 3 weeks thus far. copenhagen is surprisingly small and mostly made up of old architecture within the city, but this last week has been the best. i just got back from an eight-day trip in finland and sweden. it was amaaazing, and there were a lot of "that's fake" moments. here was my itinerary: july 15- copenhagen to stockholm, sweden via bus ride and ferry. a night in the city turned out to be a night in a man-packed bar, led in by a group of guys who claimed they're in a snowboarding film...well my friends tried to convince me they were legit because they had flyers posted around town about them too, but i was still skeptical. july 16 - stockholm to turku, ... read more
