zaterdag 10 september 2022, Roskilde, Denemarken 10/9/2022 Zaterdag – Roskilde – Frederiksborg Slot Verplaatsing (96km) naar Dronningmolle, het uiterste noorden van Seeland. Onderweg uitgebreid bezoek aan Roskilde, de eerste hoofdstad van Denemarken gesticht door de Vikings in de 10e eeuw. De fraaie imposante Domkirke is er de historische getuige van. Geklasseerd als Unesco werelderfgoed kreeg de kathedraal zijn huidige vorm in de 16e eeuw. Alle Deense koningen worden er in begraven. Er liggen er al 39, waaronder naar men zegt ook dienen Harald Blatand (Blauwtand) die in de 10e eeuw er het eerste houten exemplaar liet bouwen. Een bezig baasje die Harald. Wij spendeerden wel de meeste tijd in het 'Vikingskibmuzeet' waar men in een speciaal betonnen gebouw de 5 in 1962 geborgen Vikingsschepen die men 1000 jaar geleden had laten zinken om de doorgang van ... read more

Gabby the motorhome is parked up in an area described as Denmarks largest body of inland water . Something I can testify to as there is a lot of water about and it takes a long time to get from A to B. The waterways link the Kattegat and the North Sea. And boy is it windy here . The wind never seems to drop. It is also an area of many castles . Our book tells us that you could visit each one but it take you forever . To be choosy and pick one or two rather than go for the lot of them . We picked Spottrup Borg because it was brick built, looked interesting and was surrounded by ramparts and a moat . Day 3 and we are near to Bremen . We have never been this far north before . The weather is unexpectedly warm . 29 degrees during the day and I wonder if I have brought the wrong clothes with me . The Maxxair does not seem to do what it says on the tin. It does blow in a bit of cold air but that is the fan working rather than it pulling out the hot air and replacing it with fresher stuff from outside . My theory is it will never work . And the sad thing is perhaps it will never get a fair try . The drive was along the motorways was as always a combination of excellent and fraught . Today we come into port on Bornholm, Denmark. Bornholm is an island that is closer to Sweden, Germany and Poland that it is to Denmark, but it’s part of Denmark???? Our ship docks outside of Ronne, the main city of the island. Now you can tell this is not a normal place for the ships to come but since they dropped St Petersburg, Finland and Tallin, they added some extra stops. Look at the pictures where I ship docked. You had to take a shuttle into town which we did early. We took the 9:30 bus in and the 10:00 bus back and we had plenty of time. The 2 main attractions are the church and the light house.
