Hygge-igloo
From left to right: Jane, Bridget, Caity, Josh, Me, Dean, Prue. This was in an artificial igloo in Tivoli Gardens So I've decided to write an entry in here before Christmas and New Year and all that exciting stuff! I see my last entry is from October 30th...
On the 31st my friends and I went out to our favorite restaurant (Phoenix Cafe - Yummy
and cheap!) to say goodbye to our friend Jess. She's an Australian girl who was working over here as a nanny. It was so sad to say goodbye, but we'll definitely be seeing each other in the future.
On the 4th of November Kate stayed the night at my house, and the next day we went to Elisabeths school to talk to a couple of English classes. It was really fun, especially with one of the younger classes. They were so sweet and had written us funny questions. Later we met the newbies in the city after they had finished language school. We did this most Thursday while they were still going to Language school, and we usually went to the bar above Phoenix Cafe.
The 6th was a Friday, and Maddy and Ash stayed the night at my house. Kate came over in the afternoon. It was Elisabeths birthday and that was
Beasties
This is how we were dressed for Elisabeths birthday party. We went into the city and Christiania looking like this! great fun. When it got dark we dressed up all scary and hid in the back yard. Julie sent the kids out to search for some golden ribbons we'd hid around the trees earlier, and we ran around scaring them. That night we went to Christiania. Devin, Kates boyfriend, met us in the city and came with us. We had a really chilled night in a bar.
The next night we went out for Maddys 18th, which had been the week before. I think we went to Australia Bar, but I can't actually remember....
On the 11th, Johannes and I went to the opera. We saw Carmen. It was so amazing! I loved it! The opera itself was fantastic and beautiful, ad I've never been to an opera before so it felt like a special treat. I felt all classy, haha. The opera house, as well, is so cool. It's supposed to be on of Denmarks best buildings in terms of modern architecture, and I have to agree. It's just so cool and ultra-modern.
On the 14th I took Elisabeth and her friend Emma shopping in Fisketorvet, which is a really big shopping center just outside of
Tivoli Lights
From left to right, back to front: Me, Caity, Bridget, Jane, Josh. The lights were so pretty and the light show was amazing! Copenhagen. The girls seemed to really enjoy it, and I like to think it was a good way of me repaying Johannes for taking me to the opera (as he was supposed to take them, but I offered to because he seemed really bored with idea - fair enough). Then that night we went out for Chris's (one of our newbies) birthday. We went to IN.
For the next three weeks my diary was conspicuously empty, as I got very sick. I had a throat infection and I was in hospital for a few days, which was not very fun.
By the time I got better, my class had two weeks off school to write their SRP, which I also had to do. Basically, it's just a really big assignment (15-20 pages). I did mine on human nature as depicted in Lord of the Flies and Animal Farm.
During this time I still went out though, of course. On the 7th of December I met Kate for lunch and then we went shopping in the city. In the afternoon we picked up Donni from the station. Donni is a guy from Perth who Kate, Maddy and Ash
Tivoli
Caity and I amongst the Christmas displays in Tivoli. met at Roskilde festival. He has been traveling all over the world this year, and he came back to Denmark for a few days to see everyone before going back home.
The next night was my Rotary clubs' Jule Frokost. This means Christmas Lunch, but we had dinner. They still call it that though, and I'm not sure why. This was a great night. I thought I'd be bored, but I actually really enjoyed it. I think it was mostly because I'd just spent three weeks doing nothing and feeling crap. We had dinner and then Santa came for all the kids. In Denmark they have this tradition where you dance around the Christmas tree, and all the kids did that. Elisabeth, Eric, and my two host brothers from my first family, Marc and Daniel got me and Franco (the other exchange student in my club) up and doing the dance. It was actually really fun!
On the 10th we were supposed to go out, but instead we went to Hyltons house and had a nice night in. There were quite a few Aussies who live up north down for the weekend, so it was great seeing all
IN
Prue, Maddy and I in IN. them and catching up. I stayed the night at Kates with Amy and Caity (two Australian girls).
The next day we all met in the city and went to Tivoli to look at the Christmas lights and displays. After, most of the group went out to a bar, but Maddy, Prue and I felt like clubbing so we headed to IN. It was one of the Brazilian newbies birthdays, so quite a few of the exchange students were there. It was probably one of the best nights in IN that I've had. The girls stayed the night at my house.
The next night they stayed as well, and we had a girly movie night with Elisabeth, which she is always very keen for.
Last week I didn't do anything. I stayed in to write my SRP. Today I went into school to hand it in. I'm glad I've got it over and done with! Now, I haven't got anything to worry about (except doing my speech in Danish before I leave! Scary!) and I can enjoy the last 25 days of my exchange. I can't believe how soon I'm going home!
I hope everyone's well and
that you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
