Peter, Kif and Dino at the Carlsberg Brewery
The Carlsberg Brewery tasting room with our fellow Canadian Dino. Hello again,
We just wanted to give you guys a lil update. We got here to Denmark safe and sound (but an hour or so late). We got our bags pretty quick so that was sweet. I mean, we didnt lose'em to Terminal 5. We did however get lost when walking to the hostel. So we stopped and asked at a swedish/turkish guys' pizzeria where it was. He had no clue, but found a guy who did know. So we celebrated by eating pizza for dinner. The hostel is pretty cool, it's clean and has what you need but it's tucked away and other guests aren't really chatty. Oh well, they're probably scared of Peter.
What did we see today? Lets see here, National museet, Christiansborg, the famous mermaid (head attached!), statens museum førkunst, and Amalienborg. We walked a lot, beautiful day, 14 probably and sunny.
The next day, over breakfast, we got to talking to one of the fellow hostel-people. His name is Dino and was starting his round-the-world trip in Copenhagen. A fellow Canuck from Ottawa who has decided to see the world touching down in Europe, Asia, and Africa. It sounds like a really cool
Nyhavn
One of the older parts of Copenhagen, known as Nyhavn. trip so we wish him the best of luck! Anyways, we teamed up and went to the Carlsberg Brewery for a tour. Really cool tour for 50 kr. (free beer at the end!), a huge ass carlsberg horse, the largest beer bottle collection in the WORLD (like 17,000+ and growing). No canadian or american beers surprisingly so bring some to them and they might add it. So Canada's finest beer Lucky Lager can have a share in the Guiness book of records.
After the tour we parted ways with Dino and walked to Nyhavn. Really pretty, we'll post pics. Tired from walking, we rented some bikes (20 kr. deposit which you get back) and went on a suicide ride to Tivoli. Tivoli is Copenhagen's main attraction, sort of, it's a theme park which was fun. Kif went on a rollercoaster and a swing ride which were both pretty kick ass. Peter took it easy which paid off later.
Cause when we got back to the hostel (5:30pm) where we meet Dino again! "Hey guys, FC Kobenhavn is playing Aarhus at 6:30 wanna go?"
.....YES!
130 kroner for the first live european footbal match for Peter! Great fans, amazing atmosphere with singing, scolding, and flares. The home crowd got it going in the first half thanks to Atiba....HUTCHINSON! (canadian) scoring the first goal. Obviously cause we were there. However, it ended up 1-1 so the lower ranking away fans went away very happy. We had a blast though.
Home happy, we met another guy named James who also went to the game, and again, a canadian. Great guy, good talking to him. He was on the home stretch of his 3 month trip. But we hit the hay cause the next day was travel day to Aarhus to visit Katrina!
Conclusion of the things we have learnt in Copenhagen:
Lonely Planet lies
there's graffiti all over the place
the guy who is bunking below kif is not black, but rather Pakistani, or as we like call him.... blackistani
you dont have to get up when peter gets up, it's most likely before 6:30 am
FC Kobenhavn matches are sweet
Don't know what else to say, We'll update you when we're out of Denmark we figure.
Laters!
