Panama to California
I successfully got from Bocas Del Toro, Panama, to Los Angeles, California with bare feet. I even had to mess around in Florida because once I landed I had another 12 hours to wait for my next flight. So, I took a train from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami, walked around the city for a while and bought a new laptop (previous one stolen in Panama) with bare feet the whole time. Kind of funny...
I got to LA and Matt (brother) picked me up at the airport. He had gotten a sweet job at this studio, so we camped out in one of the rooms (in a studio that Stevie Nicks used to record in). A few of our song got recorded while I was there, and it was nice to be back on American soil for over a week; I ate fast food like there was no tomorrow.
California to London to Jersey
I took a direct flight to London from LA, and had a problem at the border. I was detained over night for being honest about traveling around playing music. I had no sleep or cigarettes, it was terrible. The next
day, they sent me back to the US, where I landed at JFK in NYC. My best buddy Wes lives in Jersey, so I ended up taking trains to him, and I stayed with him for about a week getting tickets organized to get back to Europe.
Jersey to Dusseldorf to Amsterdam
I took the trains back to JFK from Jersey on the 18th of March, and flew to Dusseldorf, Germany. Once there, I checked out the city briefly, then took a train to Amsterdam. By this time, my band mate had already left London where I was supposed to meet him. He ended up in Vienna, so we agreed to meet in Prague. But I spent about 5-6 days in Amsterdam, and had a great time there. I saw the sites, and made some friends in the hostel I was staying at. I then took a bus from Amsterdam to Prague where I met up with Andrew.
Prague
Prague has been a blast so far. Once Andrew and I met up, we hit the streets in search of gigs. In less than a week we lined up several gigs, and at this point we are
close to 5 gigs a week, and that number is rising. I have been staying at a hostel in the city, relatively close to all of our gigs. The gigs have been going well, and it looks like we'll be able to stay for a while.
Update: We were playing for an Irish Pub in the Old Town Center, and the owner let us stay in an office above the bar while we were doing gigs in the city. We ended up staying in Prague for nearly three months, and had a great time. The gigs were a success, and I got to spend some time taking in the city, and meeting people. We were originally going to try to figure a way to stay in Europe longer, but when the final days on our tourist visas drew near, I decided that I wanted to spend the summer in Maine.
