We started our day off by taking the metro from Namesti Republicky to Nadroni Trida. We then transferred to Tram 22 and rode it past the Prague Castle to the Belvedere Palace. The palace, a Renaissance style building, was the summer palace of Queen Anne and was built in the 1500's. We decided not to tour the actual palace because it now contains an art exhibit that didn't look very interesting. I... Read Full Entry

The infamous statue of St. Nicholas handing out bread to the poor... the lantern can be seen behind Nicholas on the building to the right. Legend holds that if the lantern goes out while you pass the statue you will die within a year... the lantern stayed lit while I was taking these (whew!).

After taking my chances with the lantern, I thought I'd go rub St. John again for some good luck (just in case!).

The Gothic Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, located in the much older (and less visited) castle in Prague, Vysehrad. The church, constructed in the 11th century, dates back to the times when Vysehrad hosted Czech princes and princesses.

The National Theater, located in New Town just next to the Vltava River, is the place where you can see operas, dramas, and ballets.

This was a great little restaurant located just behind Old Town Square. I had a spinach pasta for dinner that wasn't quite as good as the risotto I had last night but was still quite tasty. I think I could get used to eating in Prague... (the Budweiser Budvar is good here too!)

That was our restaurant on the right, next to a really cool looking building (there are certainly a lot of those in Prague!).

Awwwww! I can't wait to see Chico! That sounds so weird and incredibly fascinating with the wax baby Jesus. Yay! Am glad you managed to try a Palacincky, it does sound gorgeous. And what a fortuitous discovery of the John Lennon wall! It's great you're having such luck in your wanderings managing to find places. Hahahahahaha! You are soooo tempting fate with that statue!
