2 nights and one day left. Its bittersweet.
My time here has been interesting to say the least. i have made many new friends from all over the word. 2 girls from Pittsburg who are staying in our room, 3 older folk from Singapore, 1 Czeck lady who works here, and 3 more girls from Canada.
The first night we arrived we made chicken stir fry and rice. Courtney made her gluten free pasta and ate her salad out of a bucket, rescourceful. Becky completed the meal with some "homemade" ice cream sandwiches, delicious! Jesse helped with the dishes. After that we headed downstairs and played a game of Mad Gab with a few other people, and our first friends, the girls from Pittsburg, who were actually staying in our room.
the next morning we walked around Old Town Prague. I found it to be especially beautiful at night. Walking through the Jewish Ghetto had a whole new meaning. i noticed the difference in architecture from the buildings across the street not included in the Jewish quarter. The buildings on the right were intricitely designed and beautiful, while the ones on the left were plain and dull, interesting, ya? Later that evening our second friend, the receptionsist here at the hostel, Carrie, invited us to join her for Mass at the Cathedral inside the castle. We didnt stay for all of it, it was in Czech and Latin. But sitting there listening to the organ play in this huge cathedral was eerie and beautiful at the same time. Carrie, took us for a little walk around the castle and down the street as she explained some of Czechs history and the buildings surrounding us. On the way to Mass she and i had a great conversation about her beliefs as a Christian in THE most athiestic country in Europe. After this i went back to the hostel to finish off those leftovers from the night before. Here is where i continued a conversation with my third set of friends, from Singapore. They joined me for dinner and we chatted about their travels, life in Singapore, and how they were tired from spending all day in the police station. Keith, the only guy with them, had been pickpocket on the subway on their way over to the hostel. Over the coarse of these last 2 days i have had several conversations with these new friends, and it wasnt until this morning did we find out we share a faith in the same God; Which of coarse led to more questions from me... After another walk around the city at night i came back to the kitchen for one last cup of tea, this is where i met my other friends, the girls from Vancouver. the had some interesting travel stories, none of them included stitches though 😊
Today we ventured around a very tacky flea market. The weather was a bit frustrating at first, torential down pour and hurricane winds followed by complete peace and glorious sunshine, and then the cycle started again. Later in the day it chose to rest at sunny with scattered clouds. It was busy in the Old Town. There was a music festival along with a marathon going around the city.
Tomorrow we head out, 3 of us to Munich for one last day of exploring. Jesse will continue on for another week, first stop is back to Berlin.
Im pretty sure my last shower will come tomorrow morning. I will enjoy it!
Signing out, Ahoj.
