It is not the same as square dancing, but it is similar.
The holidays are so much fun in Prague. Indeed in all of Central and Eastern Europe. At Christmas, Easter and other times during the year vendor stalls fill Old Town Square and a stage is set up where music and dancing is continuous all day and late into the night. We were fortunate today as a group of folk dancers performed while we were in the square.

Each group is given an allotted time. This group danced for an hour. This included children who are group members. Sadly I was not close enough to take pictures of the children. Needless to say they were very cute in their traditional Czech costumes. The youngest were only three or four years old. I think it is great that the traditional folk dances are being kept alive.

Enjoy the photographs.

I was reminded of Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz.
