So I don't have any really fun pictures today, however thought I'd do an update regardless =) Unfortunately my (new..grrr) camera had some weird error with my memory card, so I just got it reformatted, and now everything is peachy. To test to make sure it works again (which it does) I stuck my head out the window and took a few pics of the sunset from my view! Tomorrow I plan on going to the Rose Garden to get some awesome pics of the 29 THOUSAND rose bushes currently in bloom. Lets just say it smells ah-maz-ingg in that half of town..
Today I went to Prague and visited the Museum of Communism. Twas pretty good, very informative. I was interested in going just to see the take they had on it.. You find some of the folks here trying to focus on the good qualities and benefits that it had on the country (socialized heath/education benefits) and how the Soviets liberated them from the Germans (probably Czech's biggest perk in their opinion I've found), thus they consider the occupation a good thing. But of course, then again there is the big crowd that realizes the downfalls. The museum tried
to stay unbiased when it came to the historical stuff, but I was kinda surprised to see that a lot of the information they gave/things they showed were swinging more to imply communism was a horrible part of their history after the 50s. I thought it was kinda cool to see the videos they had of the later footage of like Prague Spring and the Velvet Revolution..A lot of the communist stuff you hear/learn about it related to the 60s and Cold War Era, and no offense to those who were around during the era *coughcough*, but for me it feels somewhat far removed. The stuff from the 80s was more relatable (considering I'm a product of the 80s hehe) and made you realize the major affects the regime had. Part of the museum they had old news clips in the middle of Wenceslas (Vaclav) Square and I'm watching the news clip being like yahh I've seen this before when discussing the time period.. and then I remember that its where I've been a million times to see the museums or grab lunch..This place is HUGE by the way.. like a long

sun shower! street about two times the size of Times Square PACKED with protesters and rioters..Idk. It was just one of those moments when the boring history book jumped out at you and said "HELLOOO the old boring story in here is REAL and its here because its IMPORTANT!"--real people vs. the fictional characters you sometimes make them to be when theyre just another number. The museum had a quote (I think from Lenin) like "One person's murder is a tragedy, a thousand murders is just a statistic". Andd half the museum was basically saying that it may just be a statistic by that standard, however it makes a thousand tragedies.
Ok. Commie rant done =)
I have two new roomies! Well, they are technically only staying here for tonight and maybe tomorrow. One of them (ALLELUJIAHHH) speaks English and said that they were here for his brother's wedding today. I'm not sure if the wedding was in the gardens (they have lots of summer weddings) or in Kladno, but regardless, him and his other brother were spending the night at this place because it was a long trip back into his area of the city and they were wicked tired from the ceremony and such. Regardless, they were nice, and spoke English, thus good in my book.
Speaking of English speaking people and places...I've semi decided my travel itinerary post-CZ. Keep in mind this is subject to change a million and one times before the actual date of departure and return, however we're sticking with it now lol. It looks like it in fact was cheapest to fly out to my "start" destination, thus I am flying to Brussels! From there, I'm getting one of those Eurail passes for the regional travel as its easiest/smartest to save time. Thankfully they consider Benelux one country (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg), thus I can see more places! In no particular order, I'll be visiting friends in Belgium, Netherlands, and Germany. Also trying to take one of my Dutch friends along to Ireland with me when I go, if her visa things work out (apparently Eurail considers Ireland "conntecting" to Belgium/Netherlands by sea? Whatever.. I get to go so I'm happy lol).
Anyways.. will update more later. <3
