Day 1; Hvar
Number of pax for dinner; 26 (free dinner)
We had quite the dramatic start to our tour. As soon as we pulled into Hvar, one of my girls had a diabetic fit in her bed. Her friend is a nurse and was trying to help her, but the girl had gone into a hypo-coma and was writhing and screaming, even though she was unconscious. It was pretty crazy to watch! I phoned 112 and the ambulance arrived within 5 minutes. They came down to her room (one big paramedic fell down the stairs because he was hurrying... It was hilarious!) and gave her some shots and she came out of it. I thought we might lose her for the rest of the tour, but within a half hour she was out on deck smoking and drinking, so it all turned out fine.
We had an excellent time at Carpe Diem, but I definitely drank one capirosca too many, because I only lasted about an hour at Kiva before taking myself home to bed. Good night!
Day 2; Slano
Number of pax for dinner; 0
We had to change the route due to bad weather,
so we skipped Mljet and went to Slano instead. Everyone did their own thing for dinner (I joined a bunch of them at a pizza/pasta restaurant and had delicious pasta ... Good to know for the future if God forbid we ever end up in Slano again!). People hung out onboard afterwards, playing drinking games. It was a quiet, but good, night.
Day 3; Dubrovnik
Number of pax for dinner; 26 (Aquarius)
Good day in Dubrovnik, really good dinner, and then we had a fantastic night at the bars. One of my girls is a jazz singer, so we went to the jazz bar Troubador (in the same square as Mirage) and she got up to sing a few songs! It was great to watch live music for a change! I took the group to Fuego, did a bit of pole dancing, and went home.
Day 4; Korcula
Number of pax for dinner; 26 (Caenazzo)
I had a bunch of really funny young guys on this tour and they cracked me up all day in Korcula with their antics. One wore a helmet that he'd accidentally paid 30 euros for, another bought a kite to fly
off the boat, another had the biggest feet I've ever seen! This trip was actually full of loose canons; I had a couple who perform in musicals together, a girl who walked around topless all week, a lesbian couple who took part in a plum-eating competition (I dared one of them to eat 20 plums in 10 minutes and she did it in 9 minutes). Really funny times this week.
Good dinner, good time at Massimo, then a few of us stopped to watch another live singer before heading to Dos Locos for a few quiet ones.
Day 5; Makarska
Number of pax for dinner; 0 (we had sunset snacks and drinks on the beach instead)
We had a great time watching the sunset and then, to our delight, there was an orchestra set up on the back of a boat near ours, so we grabbed beers, sat on the dock, and watched. I think Busabout should organize our very own onboard orchestra next year for our pax. On the roof of the Istok would be ideal. 😊
Day 6; Omis
Number of pax for dinner; 26 (Captain's Dinner)
Embarrassingly early arrival into Omis, again.
The Providnost Captain (and all of the Split-Split captains) is really starting to go too far with that. There's no way to justify spending over 24 hours in Omis when we have about 12 hours in Hvar! And when we tell people that we do it for the benefit of the Captains, they don't appreciate it (one guy actually wrote on the feedback forms that he felt the Captain did whatever he felt like doing without any thought for the group).
Anyway, dinner was okay, and then all of my loose canons got really into the pirate party; two of the crazy boys pierced their ears for the occasion, one wore bright blue tights, and they all tattooed their faces with permanent marker. I didn't have the heart to tell them not to throw water bombs (and Zile wasn't too happy about it... He hated this group but I loved them, but then again he loved that nightmare group I had a few weeks back, so we clearly don't have the same taste in pax!).
Day 7; Split
Number of pax for dinner; 26 (Golden Gate)
We climbed up to the fort in our pirate outfits, which was hilarious. The wind blew my skull and crossbones bandana away, and I'd like to think that in 100 years time, someone will find it again, buried under some rock, think it belonged to a real pirate and it will end up in a pirate museum somewhere.
Then, one of my girls' shoe broke and she couldn't make it down on barefeet (she's an accountant who gets pedicures once a week), so I gave her my shoes and walked down barefoot, risking life and limb (or,life and toes) to help out a pax. Can I get some sort of tour-guiding bonus for that? Or at least a free pedicure? 😊
Good dinner, but horrifically slow service. And good times at Red Room.
The weather wasn't terrible this week, but it was quite wavy, so we were only able to do a couple of very short swim stops. People were a little disappointed and couldn't understand why we weren't stopping. They all had a good time anyway, though.
(Still in love with Nikola, in case you were wondering. And he called and texted me every day this wwek. Stay tuned for the story of our dramatic reunion next week, after I rode across Hvar in bura winds on a scooter to see him!)
