Join ABBA for a trip to the Kornati Islands

I had reserved place on a smaller boat to take me on an excursion yesterday to the Kornati Islands. At 8.30 in the morning when all 45 people had boarded the boat, we went off still half sleeping, mostly wishing not to have spent 270kn for getting pulled out of bed on an early Sunday morning.

As the boat, which was a nice small wooden boat (I know nothing of boats), left Zadar harbour, we were served coffee, juice and wine, while the speaker system at the boat started playing Waterloo followed by Dancing Queen and most of the ABBA-Gold collection. Alongside a nice fresh breeze, the music woke me as we sailed under the bridge of Ugljan and Pakšman and on to Dugi Otok, where we had a look at the very tall cliffs. Though we didn't sail to where the tallest point of the cliffs where, we were told that it was 166m, which is not far from the tallest point in Denmark. So you can imagine how I looked almost falling over the side of the ship gazing upwards. At the same time the French people where not at all impressed. "We have 's'is in Saint Tropez



alsouuu" and "on 's'e sou's' coast of France it's 's'e same". Good for you! Well they were nice anyhow - my fellow passengers and they became surprised, because maybe they have the cliffs, but not the moon landscape islands which we afterwards drifted by. It was a beautiful sight. Unbelievable. Like being on the moon -except off course from the surrounding water! We had a nice lunch consisting of an entire fish and a pork steak each. And I who haven't really had proteins for some days started changing my idea of "on Sundays it's best to sleep long". Afterwards, I climbed the rocky mountain of the island we were on. Not that it was high, but it was mainly grass, thorns and karst, which was far from comfortable in my flip-flops. I believe the guide on the boat thought I was some crazy adrenalin seeking traveller!

We returned home to Zadar, where I went to my favourite cafe and afterwards strait to bed, dreaming of deserted islands and the moon.

G Anna, sorry...i wrote u sommethin'bout vissitng the Zadar, but i just red u'r story about the tripp along the Adriatic coast...wow! u shoul work for croatian ministry of tourism in their PR office! ride on girl! ,-)
