Finally we were able to board the ferry. Our tickets were deck, which meant that we had to find a chair to sleep in or some carpet. We found some carpet. It was cool, so I used my towels as blankets. While we slept we breathed in the fresh air of cigarette and cigar smoke. Got a few hours sleep until everyone got up this morning at 6am and began talking loudly! At about 7 we could see Croatia and 40 minutes later we docked. I said goodbye to Megan and met the guy from the hostel who was picking me up. The hostel is in a great location with an excellent view of the peninsula. It is run by a Croatian family. I was so tired that I had a nap until about 2pm. I had a shower then went to find an exchange or a bank to get some of their currency- kuna. I then caught the bus to the old town. Walked through the Pile Gate and along the main street of the old town. This took me to the port. Where there were small island ferries and fishing boats. The old town is full of

restaurants, souvenir shops, churches and the homes of many locals. Walked back to the entrance of the old town and paid the admission fee to walk the walls of the city. The thick stone walls are just over 2km long and were built in the 13th and 15th century. They are really impressive city walls. It took me a while to walk the whole way around, as I was taking in the 360 degree view of the city and sea. Parts of the old town were damaged and destroyed in the early 90's and have now been repaired. The walk along the wall was great and I really enjoyed it.
