After 9 action-packed days in and around Dubrovnik and Split, it was definitely time for a couple of beach days to recharge. Plus, a visit to the Dalmatian coast wouldn't really be complete without some island-hopping. Catching the catamaran between Dubrovnik and Split was good as we got a glimpse of a few of the islands, and it took the same amount of time as the bus anyway (4.5 hours). The reason why I chose Brac specifically was because I fell in love with pictures of Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn) Beach. Seriously, look it up, because I didn't get any aerial shots, which are the most spectacular. On the ground it doesn't feel massively different from other beaches, but I did like having woodland so nearby, and two sides to the beach, a quieter side and ... read more

Left for Croatia at 7:30 Monday morning. Unfortunately we found out that we were short one bag. After the wring that I left the van locked from Carrie, we found that a group of younger people used a cell phone to unlock our vehicle. They went into the back of the van and took a bag that had things we brought for Domagoj's family and some things we bought in Dubrovnik. Took the route over the mountains through Vrgorac to Makarska and missed the 2:30 ferry. We ended up being the first 2 cars on the 6:00 ferry. We all swam at Makarska. There are few better places to swim here in terms of scenery with the mountains as the back drop. Got into Bol at 7:30. Went to the riva And ate supper. The town ... read more

We went on a fucking pirate fish picnic today. You should be jelous as fuck. We got on the wrong boat but it ended up being the sexy party boat-they kept giving us tequila and wine at nine in the morning. I was most impressed. I also ate a lot of fish. Harriet was unimpressed with the fish, but I was most delighted even though i find most fish vile. There were a couple drunk grannies and dodgy questionable gold digging whores who were with morbidly obese guys with growths on their chests-they seemed very uncomfortable with the whole ordeal. They also kept playing pirate music which repeated cunt and alcohol frequently. When we arrived on the island, we purposley had some time at an internet cafe so we wouldnt be too early before our check ... read more

Today we decided with our American friends, Matt and Mary, to kick our laziness and head to the beach. But this wasn't a trip to the beach across the street: instead we caught the ferry from Split and headed to a special beach on the Croatian island of Brac (pronounced Brotch). The ferry was only an hour and we could see this island from our house. The island is not very big, but is one of the largest in the Adriatic sea. The town we landed in, called Supetar, was a cute little ocean side town, with extremely narrow streets. We went for a quick walk around the town to find a pekara (bakery) to bring some bread to the beach, and we came across this older couple that had driven their car down this narrow ... read more
