La inceput de vara am descoperit intr-un weekend statiunea sporturilor de iarna si orasul Tarilor de vara. Am gasit cazare la Hotel Real in perioada12-14 iunie 2015, pret 60 leva/noapte cu mic dejun, parcare si internet, aer conditionat, minibar, TV care arata ca un monitor. Hotelul arata incarcat, camerele sale au un tapet floral pe langa tablouri, oglinda inglobata in rama de tablou, are un candelabru imens in holul hotelului si multa mobila si tablouri in stil french, iar seara era pompos luminat cu beculete rosii. In apropiere exista multe terase unde se poate servi si masa. Orasul pare medieval din secolul 19, bisericile sunt micute si bine conservate, cu multe case medievale bine ingrijite dintre care cea mai remarcata este Casa Sarafin de pe strada Gurko construita in 1861.... read more

22 juillet Je me lève tranquillement de mon lit d'un guesthouse bulgare que je n'arrive pas à prononcer le nom, juste là, devant le chaotique auberge à poux d'avant-hier. Il n'était pas question de passer une nuit de plus à cet autre dortoir infecté, évidemment. Je me lève donc, et traine mes morsures de puces de lit sous la douche. Je réalise que j'ai l'avant-bras droit probablement plus attrayant et du coup, plus appétissant que le reste du corps. Heureusement, ce n'est rien de trop défigurant. Je devrais m'en sortir indemne. Je me rend à la station de bus (...une autre que les deux autres de Plovdiv(!)...) et embarque dans un mini-bus en direction de Veliko Tarnovo cette fois, plus au Nord. It was a peaceful night at Camping Veliko Tarnovo with only eight pitches taken. The site is small and British run with a full English menu including Beef and Ale Pie, Rice Pudding and other Brit delights, the average meal is around 7.5 LEV (approximately £3.30 GBP). With a pool and good new facilities the only real downside is the lack of shade, there is none! Woolly says – I woke up to find that Ian and Jo had abandoned me and gone off for a full English breakfast at the restaurant, “how very rude” I thought before catching up with them and having a good moan. I left off on Christmas eve at the hostel. So, I will pick up from there. Unfortunately, Chirstmas eve was not quite as active as was Sunday in Bucharest. So, I went out with my new friends and we popped around to a few different bars. One of the coolest places we went to was called "Deja Vu Russian Cocktail Bar." Apparently, it's the place where Ceauseceu (not sure about the spelling here), who was the Communist dictator, and his men used to come and drink. So, that was pretty cool. I ended the night with a McChicken which, I know, is quite disgusting. I rarely even eat Mcdonalds in the states, but it was the only thing open and I hadn't had dinner. Day 146 Back on the road-into Bulgaria! With work finished and Bongo cleaned and recharged. Alison met me from the airport. We wasted no time and headed North across the border into Bulgaria. For the first time we had border guards looking inside, not once, but three times! I heard later that cigarette smuggling is a big thing from Turkey and Greece into Bulgaria, and seeing that Bulgarian still like to light up its hardly surprising. With a grid reference punched into the Satnav it took us to co-ordinance where we thought there should be a campsite- where from nowhere this man on a quad bike beckoned us to follow him further up a dingy lane that then opened up onto a small pleasant clearing with small chalet huts.
