The trip went pretty well. Except we almost missed our connection in Luxembourg. A lady had told us
that the train to Brussels was leaving at platform 1 and this is where it would be. At about 3 min.before our train was to depart it hadn't arrived. Yikes! Asking a gentlemen standing near,
Him saying "that train is around the corner over there" Run-run-run with the luggage slamming around behind. The last coach. Not 1st class! "Who cares- jump on throw the bags on OK before the doors close. We're on. we better bring all that baggage to the first class
coach. Here's why. On our first leg between Colmar and Metz France, we climbed on a 2nd
class coach because the train only stopped for 1 MINUTE!!!. OK leave the bags here and we'll
go up a few coaches and sit in 1st class (we have our pass in 1st class because we could not
get 2nd class) About a half an hour into our journey there is an announcement. In FRENCH!
The only thing we can make out is "Gloria Olson" WHAT ! who can we know we are on this
train? Gloria heads back toward where we saw the conductor go. My detective mind searches for answers. Oh my gosh!! They think we have a B---B in our luggage!
Gloria comes back with the news. Conductor growls "You must keep your bags with you
at ALL times!. We enlist a young oriental man to help drag the suspicious luggage through
3 or 4 cars, all the time the train is whipping along. It was an international incident!
Made all the papers. Even the BBC! Did you hear about on Fox News?
Now that INTERPOL has cleared us all is OK. Except Gloria's passport picture now has a big ? (question mark) stamped across her face. Who knew. I guess that's what Americans do--Cause trouble! :-)
Now we are here in Belgium. What can we stir-up now?
Keep tuned.
Sorry about the long story. Here's some pictures to cool you down.
You can click on them to enlarge them.
Till next time
God bless
Lowell

Train ride
That was quite an experience you had on the train. It's amazing you got on and it's amazing that they didn't throw you back off! You said the houses were mostly built of brick, I'm wondering why that is?
