150th Anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo

As mentioned previously, Waterloo is also a suburb of Brussels, to the south of the city, and only about a twenty minute drive from our home in Overijse. We would visit there quite often as it was on the way to the PX and commissary at Chievres (which coincidently is where the squadron that evacuated Dalat School in April 1965 is currently stationed in support of SACEUR). Also, our favorite Thai restaurant was located on the north side of Waterloo.

In June 1985 we had the priveledge of witnessing the reenactment of the Battle of Waterloo in commemoration of the 150th anniversary. My Mom and Dad were with us, as they were on their way back to Thailand after an emergency health trip to the States.
