Really casual morning today, it was raining so instead of walking around Bruges a little more we decided to push on to Lieges. After an uneventful two hour drive we made it. Hostel is nice, and gave us good advice on a walk around the highlights of Lieges. A mammoth hill climb and a few miles (and beers) later we're ready for a nice evening meal. Spa tomorrow, but it looks like it may well be wet, so we may have to improvise a little. Hello Everyone! Sorry it has been a while since I have been able to get to a computer. I only brought my Iphone with me instead of my computer and I don't think typing a blog on my Iphone sounds like much fun. Anyways, we had an exciting adventure in Paris over the weekend and now we are in Liege, Belgium. Tomorrow we travel to Luxemburg and then on to Brussels. The trip ends there for the study abroad program but Emily and I are off to Rome on Saturday (YESS!) We left on a 4 hour bus ride to Paris on Thursday morning and arrived in the city around 3:00 pm. Toutes les belles choses ont une fin, même les plus folles...Après avoir passé 2 jours en compagnie de Nicolas dans son petit paradis montagnard, j'ai repris mon sac et la route vers Paris. Le trajet fut plus rapide qu'initialement prévu et ce grâce a Christophe qui m'a acceuillit a bord de son camion à la hauteur de Baune et avec qui j'ai parcouru les 300 derniers kilomètres me séparant de Paris. Paris...peut-être la plus belle ville du monde et encore je ne laisse le "peut-être" uniquement car je n'ai pas encore vu toutes les villes du monde. Chaque fois que je reviens en ses murs, j'en tombe un peu plus amoureux. Hello, this entry covers my brief stay in the Belgium Ardennes. Upon leaving Maastricht, I slowly climbed the hill towards the old fort, passing a midget golf course on the way (I even doubled checked, it was midget and not mini - a very strict entry policy if you ask me), before rounding a huge quarry and then joining the GR5 as it made its way into Belgium. I had been told to look out for 'a hut' where I could get a certificate for completing the Pieterpad but despite my best efforts, I was unable to locate it, which is a shame as I was planning to frame my certificate and place it next to my degree - after all, I probably worked just as hard to get it. I was lucky enough to have two Dusseldorf trips one after the other, which was just as well after the previous days' episode. I went straight to the central station and made sure this time i had got on the right train. I arrived at a place called Aachen which is just before the Belgium border where i had to change trains. It was a quick 10 minute journey over the border where i had to change trains again. Forty five minutes later i was finally in Liege. Got out of the station to find out that if i wanted to go to the city centre i would need to catch ANOTHER train.
